Secret of the Stole

Anyone joined this KAL? http://groups.yahoo.com/group/secretofthestole/
I'm so tempted but I've still not finished MS3 and I've got one big stole design of my own to finish and two rectangular designs to finish and some languising lace wips. Embarassed

Shall I join or not??? Confused
cazzie

I've joined - but whether I get started is another matter Rolling Eyes
franney

I've joined too and i still haven't got past clue 2 on my MS3 either Rolling Eyes
They are to be my winter knitting projects, along with a dress i have to finish for a friend. Other than socks i am NOT allowed to start anything else! Rolling Eyes

I've joined too. I've even swatched. Although I'm not totally sure about the yarn I've chosen and might swatch again with something thicker.

Oooooh you lot! There I was merrily plodding along, thinking to myself that maybe I'll do a sock or two more before finishing off the last clue of MS3 and what do you go and do?

I've joined now Rolling Eyes

Time to dive into the wardrobe in the spare bedroom otherwise known as Narnia....and where did I put those beads? Laughing That is of course after I've finished MS3 Embarassed Honest!

Anni what size beads do you have in your bead stash ? I've got some size 6 (4mm) which is the only size I've knitted with, I was thinking of building a little bead stash so I've got them to hand if I need some but I'm not sure what the most common sizes used are.
YarnAddict

Don't know what size they are. They're the ones someone on here told me to get for MS3. Laughing That's not very helpful is it? Laughing They're quite small ones.

let me see if I can fid the website I got them from then I may work out what size they are.

Has anyone else started the Secret of the Stole http://groups.yahoo.com/group/secretofthestole/ yet?

I finally finished Hint 2 last night after a bit of bother with misbehaving stitches and an extra hole Crying or Very sad I can progress to Hint 3 now and even though it gave me grief I'm really enjoying it. So much in fact that I joined the Mystic Waters knitalong too http://groups.yahoo.com/group/mysticwatersKAL/ which starts on Wednesday. This time it's a shawl with a watery theme, oh and beads too!
ANyway, here's a progress shot of my stole

....along with a closeup of one of the motifs

I'm using a skein of Anni's cobweb merino, one of her Mystery skeins which is just perfect for the job. The beads are an irridescent purple, extremely hard to photograph but they look beautiful shimmering away, flashing a stunning green every now and again. My only problem now is the boys are on half term, better grab that knitting time whilst I can Wink !

That looks great - I love the colour too.
Aknita

What a beautiful colour - where DO you get your patience from?
cazzie

Looks great Very Happy - I was a non-starter!
Woollywarbler

Thank you! Very Happy

Patience.....hmmm. stubborn refusal to let lace beat me I think. For years I looked longingly at gorgeous stoles, shawls etc but failed at the first hurdle. I consoled myself with colourwork but still hankered after laceweight yarn and the "right" project. These knitalongs are perfect for me as you get the one clue each week, so I feel no pressure. Sometimes when I've sat myself down in front of the new must have lace pattern, I've become overwhelmed by the complex symbols all over the show. Something to do with running before you can walk isn't it? I know others are knitting along at roughly the same speed and should I mess up there's always someone who's been there, done that, read the book and got the tee shirt so problems can be sorted. Oh and of course beads, I'm sure I was a magpie in a previous life. This is something so pretty and feminine which makes me just that bit different in my house of men Wink

It looks beautiful Tracy. And I didn't even recognise the yarn until I read your post. Laughing

I've been thinking abour Mystic Waters. I have had some orders lately for yarn that people are planning ot use in the Mystic Waters KAL. I'm so tempted but have got so many lace projects on the go and still not finished MS3 and have had a commisson to design a new lace shawl so think I've got enough lace going on right now. Very Happy
