Rowan cotton rope

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone had had any ideas of what size hook to use for this yarn, I am putting together a kit for my friends birthday and I can't see the info anywhere.

I have been looking at the rowan how 2 crochet simply book and it doens't mention a hook size, just says there are 3 balls of yarn.  The book is available for £2 from rowan and the yarn for £2.95 plus the hook so will work out a little more expensive than the kit.

But I can't find many places that sell the kit, only one on ebay for 14.99 but the seller isn't posting out this week

TIA

Cathie i'm not totally sure on this but i think you go with needle size for the hook size, iyswim.

i've done a recommended needle check and I think you will need a 6mm size hook.

Cotton rope keeps coming up us size 10 and i think the equivalent is a 6mm....hopefully someone will step in and correct me if i'm wrong Very Happy

Thanks,

Will just go for that, maybe get her the next size up as well just in case.  Was only going to get her the plastic ones as she may not stick with it.  She's been after learning to crochet for a while, she was learning to knit but think she became a bit disheartened with that

I've seen packs of crochet hooks ranging from 5mm to 7mm I think on ebay...they usually coloured acrylic but they are quite good for practise hooks Very Happy

Thanks, will have a look now, could do with a few more hooks myself I only have a 4.5mm and a 5mm just the basics for crocheting chains, and edges on soaker legs.  Determined this year I will crochet something
