Regia Hand DyedI saw some of this in town today. It looks really pretty, and good value too.
I can think of a number of uses for this

I was looking at this earlier on e-bay - there are a few shawls (and other items) knitted in it on Ravelry.

Its another reasonably priced stripey sock yarn (I do like self striping stuff if no one had noticed )

I've just made some socks from this. It has beautiful colours and a sight sheen to it but......it is splitty and rather loosley twisted so the socks are already pilling and I've only worn them twice!!

It looks nice but it's a bit worrying if it pills so quickly

Oh Claire, that's not good!

that's not good Strange though, because Regia yarns are usually so good and hardwearing! Wonder whether it's true of that particular range of yarn overall or whether you just got a bad batch

The makeup of this yarn is completely different to their regulat yarn. It is made up of a very loosly twisted centre core which is the coloured bit. It is then plied with a very thin black strand of nylon-ish stuff (technical term LOL) as thin as sewing cotton which gets caught in the needles to cause the splitting.
I would definately use it for a shawl or something not hard wearing - but not for socks. I made 2 pairs - 1 in the green colourway and one in the pink/fushia colourway and they are both the same. They are also baggy as this yarn doesnt have much spring to it.
Verdict - beautiful yarn but not a sock yarn IMHO
I will put a photo on my blog so you can see it knitted up, but the photo is before wearing.
