Probably very silly blog question!!!Have searched through this forum to see if anyone has asked before but can't see anything so can anyone tell me - is there a 'thing' - you see my technical mastery showing now - you can put on your blog or somewhere that tells when the blogs you read have been updated? Is that what bloglines is??
My blogging ability is still very basic - I haven't added any pics yet and I haven't got anything much in my sidebars

I use bloglines but there are others like google reader etc. You don't have to put it on your blog (I can't work out how to do that anyway!)

Blogines has a little notifier (look for "download notifier") that sits in your windows taskbar and waves at you (not literally!!!!) when someone in your list updates. (Which is how I knew to visit your blog today!) You can publish your list on your blog, but I don't think there's a way to annotate (is that the right word) when one of the blogs is new.
If you wanted to do the thing where you have a list of blogs in your sidebar and they have "**new" when they have been updated, then you need to use www.blogrolling.com but they don't do the little notifier thingy (which is way cooler IMHO!!!)
In both scenarios though you add a link to your favourites and when you're on a blog you want to be kept up to date with, you click the bookmark (in my case using bloglines "sub with bloglines") and it adds it to your reading list.
Clear as mud????
I've just read that back and have even confused myself - and I use them!!!! Sorry, evidently having a bad word day!

No Noo!!! It makes sort of sense and I have just registered with bloglines - waiting for my email so I can start and I will do that!! It WAS you commenting today that set me thinking about it so thanks for that I like the idea of the notifier

Or if the bloggers you read are all 'friends' on Ravelry you can read their updates via 'friends blogs'. I hardly use bloglines anymore.

glad it made sense to someone!!!!!!
The trouble with Ravelry Blueadt, is that once you're in there then you get all side-tracked and add 15 more things to your queue and see loads more stuff that you just "have to" favourite....... and whilst reading blogs is extremely time-consuming..... ravelry is just a black hole of lost hours!!!!

I use Rav at the moment but as Noo says you can get sucked in - I daren't start using the forums on there tho I am a member of loads or I would be glued to my lappie ALL day And not all the blogs I read are in my friends too.
