Patons Sorbet? Self Stripe recommendations too please ;)

I want to make another baby blanket and Kemps have the Sorbet on special at the moment which comes in some really gorgeous colours - do you think it'd be suitable or too heavy cos it's a chunky isn't it Confused

Also, i'm after your recommendations for a machine washable dk weight self-striping yarn for a ten stitch blanket

All suggestions welcome Wink
janice

Lovely blankets,  not sure what you could use but I've just added this to my queue   Rolling Eyes .

Just went browsing, as you do  Laughing   Depends how much you need and what you want to spend, but what about something like Sirdar Crofter? is Wendy Fusion DK? see that is still in the sale  Laughing
Auntie Noo

Are there any DK stripy sock yarns????   Obviously I don't know of any otherwise I'd name them, but I'm sure there must be?
cazzie

If you want subtle stripes there is Sirdar Snuggly Kisses - tis lovely and soft for a baby.

There is Wendy Happy but that is 4ply

Sure there is someone else who does DK stripes - off to surf!
Blossom

I love that ten stitch blanket...that's going to be my next blanket I think! Smile  How about some of the DK/6 ply sock yarns like Regia or Opal? Nice and warm wool and machine washable too?!
franney

Hmmmmm, 6ply sock yarn would work, and thankyou for the Snuggly Kisses reminder, i saw that in the woolshop last week, which reminds me, they do James Brett Marble DK too which is kinda stripey Confused
Fusion would work as well and it was one of my possibles, there are some gorgeous colours in it and i was tempted to just get one ball of each shade and have a very colourful blankie Very Happy
Off to check out Crofter now Wink edit: afraid i don't like it, it's too fairisley Sad

Thanks girls - and if anyone else thinks of anything just holler i'm not in a huge hurry Very Happy

Elle Escapade is a self striping DK but is 100% acrylic (although it's very soft)
Nevisknitter

If you want big lengths of striping  I would suggest James C Brett marble or Wendy fusion. I'm subbing fusion for kureyon in a mitred square cardi at the moment and it looks good.
cazzie

There is also James Brett Magi-Knit - also acrylic and washable
franney

Thanks for the suggestions ladies *hugs*

Escapade and Magi-Knit have too much fairisle for me too i'm afraid (fussy monkey aren't i!! Embarassed ) which is a shame cos there are some gorgeous colours in the Magi-Knit Sad
Marble and Fusion are looking like my two favourites so far, but i'll keep looking... it's a hard life, window shopping for wool Wink Very Happy

How about King Cole Mirage , it's a wool/acrylic mix, good value, very soft and machine washable.  (If you scroll down the patterns give an idea of how it looks made up.)
malteser

How about Sirdar Escape. That is self striping, DK and machine washable.
Anna

What about Twilley's Freedom Spirit? That sort of stripes  Laughing
franney

Oooooh, they are all lovely and i have added them to the list of possibles, thanks everyone for your input! *hugs*
cazzie

There is a new Elle DK yarn called Earth which is self striping - I cant find it on internet yet though - I have had a email with it on from Elle

franney

Oh, isn't that gorgeous!! I shall have to keep an eye out for it - thanks Cazzie x
