Onza-along

Just talking about this little cardi/jacket on the Rowan exhibtion thread and a couple of people said they might make it - I'm doing it already; in fact I found this morning I have 2 OTN so I need to get a move on Laughing

It is this pattern from Rowan 28 - if you don't have it and phone Rowan they will copy it for you as the mag is OOP. It is knit in Rowan Kid Classic but on 4mm needles in garter stitch so an easy knit and has some neat shaping. You could always use another yarn say a dk as it knits to 21 st. In fact there is a lovely one done in Patons Diploma here . It is by Kim Hargreaves.

In Kid Classic it takes 9/9/10/10/11 for a finished size of 35/38/40/43/44.

Thats a lovely pattern Very Happy

I do like that  Very Happy I'd be tempted to use the Elann Peruvian Quechua I originally got for Ivy, as I suspect I'd get more wear out of Onza.

I meant to check if I had the book (I think I have) last night, but was distracted by Rowan 44 for Fontaine  Laughing

Oh well yes there's that too Laughing  Laughing

I went off Ivy as so many people had problems with it fitting on the shoulders Confused

I'd love to join as I've had the yarn for Onza for - oooooh - quite a while  Confused  Laughing but haven't had the courage to cast on. I've ummed and ahhed about making either Onza or Emmeline in the Kid Classic but I tihnk I'd prefer Onza  Cool

DEFINITELY go for Onza!!! I regret my Emmelina a bit Confused It's too short and boxy really - another one I haven't worn yet Rolling Eyes (in fact it may be frogged one day and turned into an Onza) Onza is a much nicer shape - well it would be being by Kim Wink

Thanks, I didn't know that, I haven't looked at any projects for it. Sounds like Onza is a much better bet  Very Happy

If you look on Rav at the projects you will see a few people have said something like that - our Jo028 made one and wasn't happy with it Confused

I have done a bit on my green Onza today - I am about 4" up the back now Cool It is in a shade called Battle and as you might guess is a sort of khaki green Wink

Will put a pic up soon!!

off to find onza on rav...
melody yarns

found onza on rav and want to cast on to knit it. no excuse - already have pattern and yarn!! I'm so glad I didn't rehome the yan now  Cool

Excellent!!! There are some lovely ones aren't there Cool .

One thing I would say about it - it has a lovely drape when it's finished - the weight of the cardi sort of pulls the garter stitch down a bit and it is more drapey than you would think. I have seen two knitted up now and both were gorgeous Razz So if when you've knit a few inches you don't like the way it looks don't frog like I did last time Embarassed keep going as it will get better Cool

Just found I don't have the book after all, obviously imagining it! I'd quite like the book rather than just the one pattern as I've been eyeing up some of the other designs on Rav  Very Happy Hope I can snag a copy somewhere.

It is one of THE classic Rowan books - lots of lovely things in there. I got mine on ebay about a year ago and bought it BIN from a lady who sells lots of OOP Rowan books for £14.99. They do come up regularly on auction tho so worth keeping a lookout. There's this one and another on atm.

After going to the exhibtion I'm wanting to get the Rowan books I haven't got now Rolling Eyes

This is my green one so far Razz

That's the problem isn't it? I always see things I'd like after they are discontinued and spend ages looking for them  Rolling Eyes  Laughing

Looking good! Nice to see the Battle colour in a different photo, it's one of Jannette's specials at the moment  Very Happy I'm not getting any though! (did that sound convincing).

I'm watching one R28 on ebay at the moment, am keeping my eye out on there  Very Happy I've got all the books from 30-44 (except that one summer issue, I forget the number), I'd quite like to collect more of them too  Very Happy

Laughing  Laughing Not really especially as she only has 11 left Wink (I looked yesterday cos I thought I was short of one - if you're wondering Laughing )

I have most of them from 28 onwards but haven't 29 or 33. Plus I have about 6/7 older ones. Some of them go for £30 Shocked

I also have some Rowan Liberty pattern booklets that are very rare Razz Including the original Foolish Virgins - I actually bought that one new at the time.

I bought Magazine 28 as part of a set of 4 for £10 as a special on the Rowan website.  Hopefully they'll still do offers like that when the site is re-launced.

ETA:

It's up again, off for a nosy......

I was looking earlier!!

I need to find my Rowan membership number to get into the forums or call Rowan for it tomorrow if I can't find it  Confused
pictish

That's what I thought - I tried to log in but it didn't work so maybe you need to re-register Confused

I tried logging in, same problem. I saw a note on rav that the site seemed to be up, but the person who tried couldn't log on either. They weren't entirely sure it was "officially" open yet.

Yay - managed to snag a Rowan 28 on ebay that just came up on Buy It Now  Very Happy It was 16.99 but since one of the 2 on auction is already up to that price, I think that's pretty good.

I also emailed Rowan last night about the login problems and had an email back from Katie today, apologising and she said they'd let me know when things were fixed. I'm quite impressed because people don't seem to have had a lot of luck with emailing them. I was considering not renewing next summer but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt!
pictish

That's similar to what I paid!!! I might email Rowan too - or ring.
