Old FavouritesReading the Shellseekers thread has reminded me that there are lots of books I have read and enjoyed in the past. I think I should really try and reread them.
There are some books that I loved but have forgotten their titles, but among those I can remember are:
Light a Penny Candle - Maeve Binchy
The Far Pavillions - MM Kaye
The Thornbirds - Colleen McCulloch
Gone with the Wind - Margaret Mitchell.
Has anyone else got any favourites from the past.

Lady of Hay by Barbara Erskine - I have read it soooo many times, but can always manage it again! it's by far her best I think!

I used to be mad on Stephen King, read all of them a few times. I liked John Grisham, Patricia Cornell, Martina Cole and Jeffrey Deaver. Haven't been reading for a while though. My first ever favourite was Little Women, I sobbed reading that

I think it's thirty years since I read 'The Far Pavillions' but I have promised myself that I will read it again - something I have never done with a book before.
I loved the Lady of Hay too.

I really enjoy Mary Higgins Clarks books - I can't work out 'who dunnit' within the first couple of chapters as I often do with other authors.
I hardly ever read the same book twice but two that I have are
Green Darkness by Anya Seaton ( a historical romance with suspence, introduced to me by a much older work colleague at my first part time job, and she even took me to visit Ightham Mote where some of it is set )
and Still Water by Stuart Harrison ( a kind of murder mystery with romance, set in a small fishing village, where a pod of Orca's live just off the coast and are part of the story too, they are just so fascinating)
