My to-do list is shrinking!I made butteries today. Yum. I also made some mincemeat ravioli things for my dad. He'd seen them made on a TV programme and asked me to do some. From his description you piled little heaps of mincemeat onto a strip of puff pastry and put another strip on top, squidging it down and cutting it so it looked like ravioli. So that's what I did. I put them into the freezer uncooked and will cook them from frozen - let's hope they're nice!
I only didn't make the stollen and mince pies because we had no eggs and by the time dad came back from running errands I'd lost all my energy and couldn't be bothered! So they'll be made tomorrow or Christmas Eve.
I also need to wrap presents, but thankfully they're all bought so the only time I'll need to venture into town is assist mum in getting the veges and any other odds and ends we may need. We're going first thing tomorrow as mum always gets our Christmas veges from M&S which means going right into the main shopping area rather than on the edge, which is where Sainsbury's is.
I usually like shopping - even for food - but I loathe it at this time of year. What is it about Christmas that sends usually sensible people totally mad?

I did a bit of shopping this morning and it was mental! Yesterday was worse, it took an HOUR  to get out of Sainsbury's car park!! Nightmare

I don't like shopping anyway - but at Christmas everyone goes bonkers! Everyone was talking about this in the pharmacy the other day. The fact that the shops are shut for ONE DAY (cos they're usually open boxing Day) and people buy heaps of food

People buy lots of food because the shops make everything family size at this time of year. I find it infuriating, no wonder people who have a small Christmas celebration or even worse are on their own often find Christmas depressing.

I think it's the sheer number of people actually shopping as well that makes me feel ill at this time of year. I see a queue I want to go home

I was in town today (for church) and I had to queue up to leave the car-park
Goodness knows what was being bought because there's not much of interest in our poor depleted High Street.

I think I've done everything - apart from putting the tree up but that's tomorrow's job. Going into town today was essential if we wanted any fruit and veg over the next three days, but it was sheer lunacy. What is it about Christmas that robs people of their sanity? The shops are open again on 26th, for god's sake!!
Franney and Jobo, butteries are an Aberdeen speciality - the nearest thing I can compare them to is croissants, but they're much, much nicer. I'm posting the recipe up in the recipe section, if anybody is interested!

Just to buck the trend, ( we must be more genteel here in Malvern  ) Waitrose was a pleasure to shop in this morning, no queues, no crammed car park, I've known it busier on a Friday
