My first handspun on my wheel

I spun and plyed this yarn on Tuesday and Wednesday after I got my wheel. It's Yarn Yard BFL and this is less than half of it plyed. Plyed the otehr half yesterday but it's still on the bobbin. IT's not been finished yet and I won't be knitting anything with it but think it's good to keep to see how my spinning improves.

Here it is on the bobbin before I plyed it:

Here's the next lot of singles I spun. I spun the whole 100gr onto one bobbin. Only just fitted it all on. Again it's YY BFL. Love the colours.

I dyed some bamboo fibre yesterday to spin and ply with hte BFL above. Here's the bamboo in the dye bath before I rinsed it today.

Not dyed pure bamboo before or spun it so will be interesting to see what it's like. feels very much like silk.

And this is the stuff I'm spinning right now. Did half yesterday and halfway through hte 2nd half today. It's merino/tencel from Spincerely on Etsy. I've tried to spin it as thinly as I can and it's fairly even. Struggled to get started iwth the merino/tencel but once I got going it's brilliant. It's got quite long colour repeats - greens and blues. I'd love to navajo ply this but haven't got a clue so will do it hte normal way.

Look at the lovely sheen.

And foranyone who missed it, this is another picof my wheel and our dog, Sam (a Jack Russel) having a peek.

And the chair from our new 3 piece suite in the backgroun. That arrived last week. Love that too. We were desperate for a new settee and it's brilliant and looks good in our newly decorated lounge.

Okay, I'll jsut go for it and show you a pic of the lounge with the new furniture. Missing pics on the walls.

Just noticed the dog sneaking in on those pics too. See her on the settee? Rolling Eyes  She's not allowed on our new settee but she's ignoring it. Rolling Eyes

New curtains too. Hanging the ones in the dining room tonight.

And on Wednesday I came home from shopping ot find this sack in my hallway

Santa had come early with 15 kg of undyed fibre. There is 10kg of merino. merino pencil roving, merino/silk, tencel and bamboo. Can't wait to dye it all. Have done 3 x 100gr of merino/silk just to try it out and have something to spin over christmas. And I gave in to temptation at the Yarn Yard yesterday and bought 2 lots of merino/silk too. Just couldn't resist the colours. Embarassed

You can see the progress already Anni in those pics - it's looking lovely!!! And I can see you're not going to run out over Christmas Laughing  Laughing Love the new suite too.

No it's not!!!! Those photos were taken to send to my Mum so hence I had to tidy up first. Laughing  Should have seen it before I tidyed up today.  Shocked If my Mum read your comment she'd laugh her head off. She always complains about the state of my house. She's an ultry tidy freak and so was my Gran. Somehow I didn't inherit hte gene. The girls call my Mum 'Miss Tidy, Tidy' which she hates.  Laughing  Laughing

Thank you for the lovely comments though. I'm so proud of hte nwe suite as we've waited so long to buy it. Our old one was so worn out and horribel and 15 years old. It was hideous. Sad
knitty, witty, woo

Your spinning looks brilliant, you have really inspired me.
I had my lesson on Friday and bought the Ashford Traditional from the teacher....she was selling it I didn't force her to!!!
I have spun and plyed 2 lots since then and now have some on the bobbin that I hope will turn out more a DK weight. The other 2 were worsted weight.

You are doing so well. It's great fun though isn't it??

Your spinning is beautiful.  What a gorgeous sheen to the yarn!

I can see how this would become addictive - at least the wheel is pretty to look at too so you won't have to hide it away when not in use!   I'm very jealous of your 15kg bag of fibre - me wanna come and play at your house!!!

BTW, I love the colour of your living room - it's lovely and fresh looking.  You have been busy and thankfully you have a lot to show for it.  Enjoy your new wheel! Smile

Thank you. I've been spinning like mad over christmas althoug hfor the last few days I've been trying to get some knitting done. Had a longspinning session earlier today.

Here's my 2nd plyed yarn, it's the merino/tencel.

Still a bit on the loose side but much more even and thinner than the last one. Next job is to finish off the bamboo (in the dye bath above). Nearly done, then I'm plying it with the pink/plum BFL (on hte bobbin above). Once that's done I'm starting on some merino/silk from n. Also got a bobbin of merino/silk done which I dyed myself.
carolinne

What lovely colours and your spinning looks so neat compared to mine  Very Happy  Cos I've been busy knitting for my grandson my spinning was ignored for a few months, but I sat and did some last night, planning on doing a lot more  Very Happy
Just one question, where did you get all that nice undyed stuff  Laughing  I'm so jealous  Rolling Eyes

Thank you Carolinne and Janice. Have plyed hte pink/plum BFL with the pink bamboo today. Had bamboo left so plyed that with some blue/aqua emrino/silk I've dyed myself. Pics tomorrow when it's better light.

Going to spin some merino silk form YY next. the colours are stunning.

The undyed fiber is from Wingham Woolworks (www.winghamwoolwork.co.uk I think). Think www.pmwoolcraft.co.uk sell undyed fibre too. The Wingham site is horrible. You have to e-mail them the order.
LittleBerry

your teal/blue merino/tencel looks lovely and is nice and even too...
