Look what I've just got for £40

I was in the village next to ours this morning that I only visit occasionally.
This was advertised in the local shop window for £40.

Of course it is now in my hallway!!! Laughing
I keep going to play with it just to see it spin round.

I have no idea what to do with it but apparently a lady in the next village also gives lessons.

I am enjoying it until Hubby comes home tonight to spoil it for me. ( he will be told it was a bargain at £15) Embarassed

Hubby says I got a bargain for £15. hahaha

Does anyone have any idea about which wheel this is? I can't find any markings on it.
I just want to read up about it.
Fi

What a great find.

I cant help with identifying it, but it is a beautiful castle wheel you have there - possibly irish??

The man I bought it from said he thought it was German if that helps.

that's beautiful. I wish I'd found a bargain like that. I'm thinking about geting one forChristmas. I've found out there is a local spinning group so I'm going to ring them to see if I can join them. Think it's mainly older ladies. Which is grea as they may be happy to teach me and even lend (or sell) me a wheel which would be great.

I can see why spinning wheels make beautiful 'living room' art!

Yarnaddict, good luck with the spinning. I imagine that the local spinning group lends out their wheels to newbies or at least to try out before you buy. You must keep us updated.

I will do Bernie and I must get around to giving the spinning lady a ring. I took some of my handspun (it's only a tiny skein) to K-tog in Devon last Sunday and the lady demonstrating spinning there looked at it and said I could definitley spin and it didn't look at all bad. She also showed me how to spin from cotton wool balls - normal cosmetic cotton wool balls. It was amazing.
