Live action bookswap game anyone???

I posted more about bookswapping on the bookswap/lend thread then realised it's got lost. Would anyone be up to play a bookswap game?
(if the mods approve that is?)

the destructions are as follows:
All participants have a book which is hidden. There are TWO threads: one for playing and chatting, the other to describe the revealed books in more detail. the books could be all knitting or general crafts books?

1. Player #1 calls on any of the OTHER players to REVEAL their book. You cannot reveal your own book until someone ELSE calls on you to reveal!

2. Whoever is called on to REVEAL posts the name and author of their book and a brief description. (please also post in the thread for book descriptions only)

3. The revealed book goes to Player #1.

4. Player #2 can either
- steal Player #1's book! In this case, Player #1 must call on someone else to REVEAL and the newly revealed book goes to Player #1 OR
- call on someone else to REVEAL and the newly revealed book goes to Player #2

5. Player #3 can then either steal from Player #1 or from Player #2 or ask someone else to REVEAL.

6. Each player following #1 can steal any revealed book that any other player has. The player who has their book stolen can also steal from any other player so that once more players are involved, several steals can take place before another REVEAL. The only restriction is that you CANNOT steal a book that has just been stolen from you! Each book has a maximum 5 steals (this does not include initial reveal), and then is OUT OF PLAY.

7. After the last book has been revealed, the game is over.

(originally copied from the bookrelay site - and, in my case from Katybean)

There is a snazzy animated illustration here:

I love playing this game and have played it on line and IRL! It's not half as complicated as it sounds once you get going. Very Happy

I also have a couple of knitting books I'm happy to swap...

Crafty bookswap.

Was it the description?
Did it all sound too complicated?
Have you no books to swap?
Do I smell?

Because I've had no takers, I've had to join a pink swap!
There - now see what you've all done.

tutmut sulking in a corner.

Very Happy

Pink swap, do tell Wink

I didn't understand it either *sorry*
Seahorse

I thought the theory of it sounded fun but I don't want to swap any of my books!

That's a problem! I've got about three books I wouldn't mind parting with (albeit reluctantly)

For Terri and CJ - if you follow the link at the bottom of the first post (the long one with the confusing instructions) there is a fab animated graphic picture of how the game is played.
As far as the pink swap goes, I participate in bookswapping (via Bookcrossing) quite regularly - I hadn't joined in for a while and an internet friend (Katybean) sent me an invite for a PINK swap - ie be prepared to swop any book that is PINK!
YOu go into the game with your book HIDDEN - then, when it's your turn, you get to ask someone to reveal their book - it's then yours. BUT other participants can steal your book if they like the look of it. So then you get to have another go. It sounds complicated but really it isn't once you start playing. I've played it live with my bookclub mates (we did it at our christmas get together - more fun than just swapping pressies!).

I'd love to have a go on here - but we'd need about half a dozen players for it to work well I think.

an informative tutmut (out of the corner now!)

LOL Tutmut! I didn't understand too well either, but then I'm a hoarder like Claire and cant bear to part with any of my books Smile
Auntie Noo

Have to say I had a quick read of this the other day, but didn't understand Sad, and when I clicked on that link thing I needed a password!! Crying or Very sad Having said that I don't really think I have anything much I want to part with either.

Now I know why noone put their hands up to join in anyway!

Sorry about that link aunty noo - I guess it's like this forum - I've been a member for so long I thought anyone could view the contents just needed to join to post.

Well - looks like you guys have brilliant libraries that you wouldn't part with! I've got pattern books that I don't think I'll ever knit from - like the 1930's family knitting book. But I'm known for hoarding and keep TRYING to declutter.
How about books with a crafty content instead? - I have books on papiermache and tole painting I reckon I could part with.

Good night!
