Lark Rise to CandlefordI've started reading this book and it is wonderful. Honest, straightforward yet somehow romatic and heart-warming to. Its nothing like the series on TV which I suspect was 'sexxed-up' for the vewing public.
I am particulary enjoying the fact that it is written by someone from the working-class about the working-class in rural britain. It makes a change from hearing about the rich and its already given me some tips on self-sufficiancy.

I just love this book Claire - in fact there is a sequel (Still Glides The Stream) and maybe 2 (can't remember)!!! I didn't watch the series as I love it so much and they so often spoil things
I agree it is such a beautifully written account of an ordinary rural childhood and life

oh, I must get that for my mum for Christmas then. I tried watching the TV series, but Dawn French I just kept laughing at.

I LOVED this book. I have just finished it. It bears no resemblance to the TV series except the names of people and places. I enjoyed the TV series, but this is better x 10000
The book I read was a trilogy of Lark Rise, Over to Candleford and Candleford, so I will look out for the last one.
