Kiri shawl patternI just can not get to grips with this kidsilk haze. Or the begining of the pattern, it says to use a provsional cast on work 14 rows then pick up the bumps along one side and then the 3 from the cast on.
The theory behind it I understand but the knitting is truely awful and there is a good cm between the bumps which looks hideous.
Have been using 4.5mm needles, and thinking of going down a couple of sizes, but not sure what to use. I have 2 balls but it doesn't say on the pattern how many repeat to do for this amount of yarn either

Cathie on the pattern itself...it does say that 12 repeats were done using 3 balls of ksh....then you have to refer to the size chart for 1 or 2 balls...this is the measurement you should be up to before doing the edging.
I used collinettes parisienne and got 11 repeats plus the edging from 2 skeins....as there is a little less meterage on KSH, i'd go for 10 repeats...but measure it anyway from the chart.
I also cheated a little on the provincial cast on and just did a lace cast on and picked the stitches from the loops... HTH

I did it in that way too, and with KSH being fuzzy you cant see the join. I did mine on 4.5mm needles and it looks fine as the yarn is fuzzy. Yet to block it, it looks fine but the edge is wavy rather than pointy.

Thanks for that, going to put it away for now as my hipknits silk is here so going to start on clapotis instead, and go back to it when the feeling of wanting to throw it against the wall has worn off.
