Increasing while ribbing question...

I'm trying to make the dog a jumper and the instructions say:

Quote:
First collar increase: inc 16 (1Cool (20) stitches evenly. You may incorporate the increases into
your K2 parts of the rib. 84 (94) (100) stitches. Rib 10 (11) (12) more rounds.

But unfortunately that is all it says and i really don't know how to work the increases into the rib and keep the 2x2 rib going Embarassed

If anyone can help me out both myself and Lukey would be eternally grateful! Very Happy

Whenever I've increased in ribbing, ( which is only the once I hasten to add ) it's the purl sts that I've increased in, keeping th K2 going but increasing the spaces inbetween - if that makes sense!

You could do a kfb into the first stitch of the k2 bit of the ribbing...then you would have a k3 the next time round?!

Yes, I agree with both the previous posters that ou can't really keep the K2 rib going, you will have to do either K3 P2 or K2 p3 rib

This is a bit of an opposite (and it's the second time I've typed it cos the ether lost it the first time round) but when I decreased for the Rambler hat before Christmas I decreased in the purl stitches and kept the knit stitches as knit stitches all the way through as Joy said above. So I would be inclined to increase into the purl stitches and work them as they appear, and leave the K2 stitches as they are.

Does that make sense at all?  Confused

Thats what I would do too.

I've just done this on a collar. I increased in betweeen the 2 knit sts on the wrong side so they showed as 3 purls on the right side when the collar was folded back

Oh OK, so i won't be able to keep it as a 2x2 rib... that makes more sense!

The pattern isn't very clear unfortunately so i may be back withmore questions!

Thanks for your help ladies *hugs*
