Ideas for Christmas Games

I'm thinking about getting a new board game the whole family can play over Christmas (we are all sick of Trivial Pursuit !)

I can think of Cluedo, which was great when I was a kid - but what about now? Laughing

Also I remember another game where you all had to describe something (written down), but only one person had the real answer - and you got some really funny answers - but I cant for the life of me remember what its called? Very Happy   Bit similar to Call My Bluff I suppose Very Happy   It was definitely a board game though!

Also I remember Pass The Pigs but my DH said that involves knocking back drinks - not very suitable for everyone really !!!

OK I have found the name of the game - its Balderdash !!

Is pass the pigs a drinking game though? I seem to remember I had that when I was younger, I was looking at it in woolworths a few weeks ago amoungst the other kids games.

I've brought junior monopoly for Ben this year, a little treat on Jessicas birthday and he loves it.

There is a pass the pig which is no a drinking game which involves rolling to little pigs and how they land gives you points.

What about pictanary (sp) which is good for most ages.

My to are only young but we love playing games together and we play backgammon, snakes and ladders, card, pick up sticks, draughts etc.

My vote goes to Pictionary too.

Pictionary I can definately recommend and depending on the ages  Outburst is fun too!

Pit is always a good noisy one for more than 2.  It's a card game but you have to trade cards to make a set by calling out how many you want to swap.

A quieter one is Labyrinth where you set out square maze cards randomly on the board to build the labyrinth and then there are other cards that are shared out with treasure on them.  The object of the game is to collect the treasure by shifting the maze so you build a path from your playing piece to the treasure.

They are both good ones for all ages.

We have Pass the Pigs too and have never thought of it as a drinking game - but then most games could be turned into drinking games if you put your mind to it!

Pictionary here too...love it
and there's a word association one in a reddy box (same size as Trivial Pursuit)
