i need to be very strongi am a bit if a qpd and amazon addict and have now bought so many books i will probably need ot move house soon.....still at least they take up sapce that would other wise have to be cleaned under (see powder room for earlier post)
but it has got silly and while i dont mind and can quite get the idea of having fabric stashes and wool stashes that never get used and are for inspiration purposes i cannot justify an unread book stash sooooooooooooo i am not going to buy any more books until i have read at least ten of the books in waiting
i just hope i can be strong enough

Except for special books, I try to get books out of the library instead of buying them these days. But my library is very handily just down the road and I can put what I want on hold via the Internet so it is almost as easy as ordering from Amazon, but free (except when I forget to renew or take them back of course)

Me too, I have loads of books and hate parting with them.
Our library is good too, gets loads of new books in and has a great reservation service.
Between me and the male folk we keep em busy.
The boys love reading, we could probably set up our own library.

Carolinne, I think you might feel less bad if you visited my house! I had a pang of guilt this week and got rid of 60+ books to Oxfam... only it's made no appreciable difference, as most of my shelves are 'double parked'
I aways think that if I'm ever penniless and bedridden, at least I won't be short of something to read! (That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it... ).

Me too!! Even son is getting like that - he has shelves of book as well.
Our library is rubbish - its nearly all computers and foreign language books and mags. I dont even go there any more - not since they had to put a security guard on the door and lock the toilets so you have to get a key from the desk!!

No, they had problems with ramps staying all day in the Library, strange men lurking in the childrens area, and unmentionable stuff going on in the loos!!!
By the way - do you mean you need to be strong as in lifting all these books and carrying them around? or in resisting collecting any more? If its the former, just think of it as aerobic exercise and if its the latter, its brain exercise - and we all need more exercise!!!
