I did it!

I got a wheel Smile
I've been thinking it over for a long while, but then several things came together at once, so I jumped Shocked  Laughing
It's a second hand Ashford Traveller, but a fairly recent one. DH is quite keen to tweak it and make sure everything runs just so,  though I've been playing a little bit already Smile

Luckily I have some fibre that I'd been using with the drop spindle, but I dare say I need to buy a smidgeon more Wink

I fear that may be a while coming. I don't learn as fast as I once did Sad
KnittingLadybird

I love handspun and it'll be worth the wait (no matter how long it takes) I think people who learn to spin get so sucked in it takes over....you ask CJ!!
Glynis

Ah now, you see we have CJ to blame for my starting out on spinning. I bought a drop spindle that she was selling, and although that wasn't the spindle that eventually "hooked" me, it was the one that gave me my first taster Smile
Fi

Oh you lucky thing.
Wildpurl

Oooh Glynis how exciting! I'm very envious, I really want a wheel, although I have just bought a second spindle...
I think you'll need LOTS more fibre as you will be so much faster.
And I must say that seeing CJs spinnig is one of the things that has persuaded me to have a go at learning to do it. It is just addictive though, watching the yarn come out of the fluff...
franney

How fab!! Hope you're having fun playing with it Glynis Very Happy

I'm envious too, have a lovely time playing with your new toy - and please can we have some piccys, I'd love to see it and what you achieve.

(Did I imagine it, or was it you that went to Hill Top for a lesson?  I'm still toying with the idea, though I am less sure of a 'one to one' and would prefer a class.)
CJ

oh, I've just spotted this thread.   Laughing   what's all this blaming me then!!!   Wink  Laughing  Laughing

I must get round to knitting more with my handspun as it seems to be taking over my knitting stash at the mo.   Rolling Eyes

Yes, I had a couple of hours with Sue at Hilltop.
In a while I may book another couple of hours.
