I bought a wheel

and it isn't Kromski Symphony. Cool

Hurrah!

Can I be the first to congratulate you and wish that I'd put real money on the bet that you would have one before Woolfest!

Ooh exciting! We need photos Smile

Now I can fill my suitcase with fiber from Woolfest. Much easier to carry back home than a wheel.

I don't have photos yet, because I placed my order today. I've spent so much time thinking which wheel I should choose that my husband started to hope I would just order something and be done with it. He doesn't want to discuss the differences of spinning wheels anymore.

I chose a Kromski Sonata from Wollinchen. She has the best prices for Kromski I've seen anywhere. My Sonata with clear finish, including the carrier bag cost 324 euros plus fifteen euros for shipping (I got a small discount on shipping). In Die Barocken Spindeln, another German spinning wheel store, the same wheel without the bag is 349 euros plus 22 for shipping. Not to even mention what they cost in USA.

Originally I wanted Symphony, but it is a big Saxony wheel and we have small apartment. Boys would have wanted to play with the wheel and Symphony isn't really a wheel you can hide. When I don't use Sonata, I can put it into carrier bag and hide the whole thing into closet. It is compact and I have room for it. Later I might buy the fast flyer so I'll get Symphony-ish ratios, but many people can spin laceweight without the fast flyer.

I'm very pleased.

Ooh is it this one?

Looks lovely! I'm very tempted to learn to spin. I found a course at a place in Bristol (I think it was only a day and then they had a follow-on course from that).

That's the one.

It should be very simple to put together, no real assembling.

I keep congratulating myself on price, especially because it includes the carrier bag. Die Barocken Spindeln ask 59 euros for the bag if you buy it with wheel, 79 euros if you buy separately. And Ilonka is very nice person to deal with, I've bought some roving from her before. She was quite surprised when I suddenly changed my mind and bought Sonata instead of Symphony, but I think I made the right choice based on research I've made.

One odf the very experienced spinners in my guild recently sold a quite posh wheel in order to get a Sonata. She's delighted with it, and I would value her opinion.
Even better, since it fits in a backpack, will you be bringing it to Woolfest with you? Very Happy

I haven't decided yet. I need at least one suitcase for fibers I'll buy. If I can stuff a pair of socks and some spare knickers in the carry bag with wheel?

Sublime Spindle will travel with me. I don't know if I bring Sonata.
