Aww, love you too! I did remember you posting up about holey socks, but didn't want to name and shame you
It is very useful isn't it? Oi, Mods?! Perhaps you could make this thread a Sticky please? So we can easily find it again when our socks get holey?
Thank you

Sticky it is.
Personally I always thought the best way to darn socks was to study the hole very carefully, say "Oh darn!" and then go out and buy yarn to make a shiny new pair

Thanks Jacquie!
LOL at your approach to it - I think I shall definitely use that one too from time to time

A really useful video if you've got a mushroom. Any bright ideas what to use as an alternative or how to get your hands on one? Mushroom that is.

I bought my 'mushroom' from a habadashery shop years ago.

I used to use my mushroom mainly to sew on brownie/guide/cub/scout badges. It was just right to keep the badge in place on the fabric. I think I got it at an antique/collectibles fair. I don't have it now - can't think what happened to it.

well, a quick google search has turned up the fact that the people that made the video sell them - here Only £2.95 each. Mind you, it's £4.50 for P&P though up to £80 maybe we should consider a bulk order? Actually, that looks like a very interesting company, have bookmarked it for a good look later on.
Personally I like Linz's approach! Or perhaps someone here with a partner into woodworking could branch out into making them?
Edited to add - didn't someone got a modern one in the Secret Santa last year? So perhaps they are still being made by someone like Prym or Inox Edited again, yeah it's Prym - the only UK-based one I can find is here , no price displayed though. But at least we know they're out there

Just in case anyone's still looking, John Lewis have darning mushrooms, the Prym ones painted to look like a toadstool. £2.95. I bought one at the store on Oxford Street in London last week
