How do I resize an avatar?

I love all the avatars everyone has, and thought I had found just the one for me. However, it seem to be too big. How do I resize it?

Aha! Someone else asked this question, and now I can't remember what I said!

When our forum was in its previous incarnation, someone (I think it was Auntie Noo, but can't be sure?) gave us the link to an avatar resizer, which is:

avatar resizer

so if you resize your avatar to 80 x 80 pixels, and then reduce the quality to 95% it should work nicely. That's what I did to mine in the end

I have just made this post into a sticky in case ayone else is having the same problems in resizing their avatar.

Thank you for the info on how to resize an avatar. Very Happy I was just wondering where everyone stores their avatar. Do you all store them on your home pc and link from there or do you use something like Photobucket? Can you tell I'm a bit confused?! Embarassed
Auntie Noo

For the avatar, i think because it's so small, you can link to something on your home pc - that's what I do. For all the other photos in your posts you need to use photobucket.

Thank you for answering my question. Very Happy I've stored my avatar on my pc.

The avatar picture is actually stored in the message board database.

That is why you can upload it directly from your PC or from another URL.

Other pictures - in sigs or posts - are not stored here - and that is why you need to upload them to Photobucket or other picture host.
