How do I joinOK, I give in...how do I join the Sock a Month party?
I'll enter Daniel's socks but seeing how some people are knitting socks for the entire country of China in the month of March all by herself , I figure I can knit up a second pair, yes?

You don't have to do anything official - just start a thread in each month's subforum to show off your progress, then at the end of the month there is a special thread to add a picture of your completed socks. Everyone who adds to this thread will automatically be entered into the draw for a skein of n's wonderful yarn in the colour of your choice.
If you knit 12, 6, or 3 pairs in the year, you will be eligible for a gold, silver, or bronze button and there will be another prize draw for each category sponsored by terri.
So get over that second sock syndrome and join the party

And I'm already one pair behind, and not a hope of getting any done this month either... but I wil take my knitting on holiday and perhaps that will help things along for April.

If I knit another 7 pairs this month, then can I retire?

Lovely to have you join in, Jon ... and it's certainly a cure for 2nd sock syndrome

Just to add though - it doesn't matter how many pairs you knit in a month, you only get one shot in the draw in any month.

Yes but CJ can enter each one for the following 7 months seperately,

yes, I was wondering that. If I knit all 12 pairs before the end of the year, will I still need to need a pair for the rest of the months, or will what I've knit already count???

Well (getting serious for a minute) knitting them all in advance isn't strictly in the spirit of the challenge, but if you don't tell us about them we won't know.

So, do you knit them and not post them up until the relevent month?

I wasn't meaning to cheat, cos I've not knit them up in advance, just as each month goes!!! I'll just limit myself then, cos don't want to miss out on the draw by being too quick

The subforums for each month won't open until the beginning of their month.

It's hard to stop once you are on a roll, but yes please try to pace yourself - we don't want you burning out and not being able to participate later on

I'm going to clarify this a bit actually.....
A member can enter the sock-a-month draw for the current month as many times as they like with as many pairs of socks as they like, but will only have a single chance at winning a prize for that month. For example, in February's draw, I only put names into the Hallowe'en bucket the once regardless of how many pairs had been knitted by members. I think that this makes it fair to slower knitters who only get a pair done per month, or less frequently like me! (Although I don't ever enter myself for the draw as I'm site admin )
Also, socks can only be entered into the current month's draw if they have been finished in the current month. This is why we ask for progress pictures in the current month's thread! Of course, we won't know that you've already knitted a year's supply of socks, but your conscienece will For example, my February/March socks are still otn and will probably remain so for the rest of March and April, so I'll enter them into the April draw (or not, cos I don't enter, but y'know what I mean.....)
Any more questions, please feel free to ask or PM one of us.

Debs - can I just clarify because my brain is not very perky today I started MrPs socks in January, frogged them beginning of Feb, cast on again mid-Feb and shall probably finish them in say, June (being optimistic here ) So am I OK to enter them in the June comp? And do I need to start a new progress thread each month?

Oooh goody - so I can enter the 'arrow' socks I just finished for the March draw? They were meant to be my february socks!
