I can't seem to find anything online that explains in easy steps how to do this any ideas?

Thanks, I do have the stitch and bitch book here but can't find it at the moment, I don't seem to remember seeing anything in it about rib though

you have to alternate between doing either one stitch through the front post and one stitch through the back post, or if you're working the rib the other way round it's either one row through the front loop and one row through the back loop, it depends on the look you re trying to achieve.

That's just off the top of my head though, i'm sure Murdo will be back to tell me i'm wrong Laughing

Thanks, will give that a try later on, not really considered what look I wanted just want a rib to put a drawcord through, suppose it would been to look a little bit pretty as its for a skirt.

I crocheted into the front of one stitch and the back of the next to make a rib when making the fingerless mitts from Tess Dawson's book, you get the rib look, but its not elastic like knitted rib. Its a thicker fabric than normal crochet too.

If its to put a drawcord through, then maybe do a chain space instead of stitch, making an eyelet, if you do this every 2 or 3 stiches you would get a nice row of holes which you could then thread something like ribbon through.
