I found a great knitalong by chance. It's aimed at Harry Potter fans who are eagerly awaiting the next and last book coming out in July. The object of the game is to take a "house sorting" test to find out which Hogwarts house you belong to. Once you register and answer a few very simple questions, you are paired with a secret pal who will receive a pair of socks from you (in her house colours), a set of sock knitting needles and a stitch marker. I thought about it Audrey but the list of yarn put me off as it's North American yarn and not available here. Is there an alternative list? Smile

Gilraen, you don't have to buy the yarn that is listed. I just went and looked at what the colours were, and I know I can find a similar colour available where I live. I think the choices are just examples, not requirements.

Patons diploma gold 4 ply should be fine shouldn't t for socks Confused

I knw anni uses it a lot for socks and you can get it in lots of colours Confused

Diploma gold 4ply is brilliant for socks. lovely to knit with, washes well and wears well and the choice of colour is huge. I'm tempted by this kal but dont like harry potter. My girls do though or at least they used to. Confused

I love the idea of this swap, but don't think I will be joining not sure I will have the time. I might join in unofficially and make myself a pair of sock in hogwarts colours just to see if it was possible. Just need to find out what house I'm in, tried a few times now and the page never loads up

Ew! why on earth did they pick naturespun sport??? It's a Brown Sheep yarn and you would defo need to hand wash the socks as that yarn will felt.
