Hello- I'm Joy and I used to Knit ;-)Hello everyone
Let me introduce myself. My name is Joy and in another life I used to knit! Goodness knows when
I have no idea where this week has gone! I started my new job on Tuesday ( more of that in a minute ) and the week has whizzed by. Yesterday morning I was hanging my washing out in the dark before I left for work and goodness knows when I will get it ironed. I haven't quite come to grips yet though with having a whole weekend off which is a novelty in itself
I absolutely love my new job, although my new routine is taking a little getting used to. I leave home at 7:30 4 mornings a week, if I do that I avoid the nightmare that is the Worcester southern relief road ( which knocks the M6 into a cocked hat I can tell you ) and it's been gone 6:30 on three evenings before I have got home. I am sleeping better, waking feeling refreshed, and just feel lighter somehow iykwim.
Mum is STILL in hospital. I really won't bore all of you with the ongoing saga that has been Social Services but sadly now it is evident that even with a full care package mum simply wouldn't be safe to be left alone overnight and will need 24 hour care. It's early days, and i have no idea where to start, but I am hoping to move her to care locally.
I haven't knitted a stich for what seems like weeks. I am sure I will soon settle into a routine, but there seems to be a lot to do at the moment. I am so much happier and settled though, it may have taken a long time and there may have been disappointments along the way, but finally I am doing what I love best.

That is really good to hear Joy. The main thing is feeling happy and better, everything else will settle. It is early days and you will get in the swing of it, sounds like long hours though but I can see what you mean re traffic. Hope you get things sorted out for your mum, it will help once you know she is okay.

Glad the new job is proving enjoyable - it is difficult to find time for knitting when you are working long days - but I manage it somehow and I am sure you will too! Enjoy your weekends

I'm so pleased to hear how well the job is going, you deserve to enjoy it, you've waited a long while for the right place to come up. As Carol said, you will soon find a new knitting routine that fits around work hours.
I am sorry that your mum will no longer be able to cope at home on her own, but once you have got her settled into a place that she will be happy you will have some peace of mind. It is no fun always having to have that worry in the back of your mind.
Take care

I'm really pleased that your new job is working out so well. You will get used to the different hours, and I'm sure you will pick up those needles very soon. (Must admit I haven't knitted anything for ages - need some inspiration!).
I hope the situation with your mum gets sorted out soon.

Thank you everyone for the lovely welcome - I'll let my sister know you were asking about her
Seriously, it's been quite a week, but in a brilliant sort of way. And thanks to yesterday I now have a clean house and all my washing and ironing is up to date, so I won't be playing catch up all week.
Today I am going to see mum. I see a change every time I see her now which is terribly sad. I will be speaking to her social worker tomorrow, and my brother and I have a meeting with her ( SW ) next Monday ( my brother is away next week ) My brother and I don't speak to each other directly any more, we seem incapable of behaving like adults at present and leave answerphone messages for each other. ( He phones when he knows I am at work, if he IS in in the evening when I ring he doesn't pick up - sad, isn't it )
Tomorrow I am having a day off where I plan some ME time. I have to go for a blood test in the morning, an occie health requirement for measles antigen - I had measles as a child, but there's no real way of "proving" it. After that I plan some TV time and some knitting. I have 2 episodes of Casualty and 3 of Holby on the Sky + to catch up with for starters. I also have holiday photos to show you too, so will try to upload them later today. I am hoping this week will settle into more of a routine, which I am sure it will.
The most important thing in all of this is that I absolutely love what I am doing - love it You would not believe how much better I feel for being settled into a regular pattern of sleep.

I am sure we have meet on another forum
I just want to give you a very big hug I have been thinking of you so much lately that my brain hurts
Would I have passed throught your village on the way to the Malvern Autumn Show? The weekend you went on holiday but I did come home from the show, on the coach with 2 (real) ducks

Jacky, I don't live in a village as such. Malvern is made up of lots of communities, there is Malvern Link, Great Malvern, Little Malvern, Malvern Wells, North Malvern, West Malvern ( where they are all a little odd ) and Barnards Green. I live in the Link, so depending which way you went to the show you may or may not have done.
Did you enjoy the show? I have lived here for some 23 years, yet have never been to any show of any sort there apart from when the children sang in a choir for the Archbishop of Canterbury there several years ago.

I'm so glad your new job is what you wanted and that you're enjoying it so much:). And once you've found the right place for your mum you'll be able to relax again knowing she's settled.
