Jon the Yank

Hello, I'm Jon the Yank

Greetings all....

I'm Jon the Yank. As my name implies, I'm from the United States. Denver, Colorado to be exact.

I have exchanged many an email and yarn package and wotnot with my dear friend from across the Pond, Deb the Brit aka melody yarns.

I used to have a blog called Colorado Knits but I took it down last fall so some of you may know my sardonic humor from that.

I just finished knitting my einstein coat from Sally Melville's Knit Stitch book. If you can stomach miles of garter stitch, this coat's for you.

Other than that, I'm getting married on Saturday and I'm just so tickled pink. While Colorado doesn't recognize gay marriage, that's not stopping my partner and I from throwing an incredible party.

Well, I guess that's all for now.

I think we should gatecrash!
Off to look for bucketshop flights.....
Welcome, BTW
Are you wearing handknitted socks?
n
Jon the Yank

I haven't decided if I'm going to wear some handknitted socks. I have some grey and black regia striped socks that I could wear. We are actually changing our jackets, vests and ties after the ceremony from black to white. So that should be rather fun.

We just need lots of money to pay for the darn thing. There's a sob story that I won't get into but there you have it. Frantically trying to find options with 4 days to go!!!

Shocked
Catknit

My Dh wore red handknitted socks to our wedding in October, it was as a protest because he was forced to wear black shoes which he has a very strange aversion to (he reckons it was because he was made to wear black shoes for school but I think he's just being difficult) He enjoys getting dressed up in his dinner suit for 'posh' do's but hates to wear his black shoes and always tries to get out of the house in brown ones instead Rolling Eyes
Hope you enjoy your day as much as we did.

Sell some of your glorious stash on here... that should raise a few bucks Wink
Catknit

a man who understands stash
melody yarns

Oh yes *nods head vigorously* I think Jon understands stash, he's a knitter y'see. And he works in a yarn shop , so he's uber cool Cool
Catknit

A demi-god then. rolleyes
melody yarns

Oh yeah, deffo.

I want one Evil or Very Mad
Jon the Yank

You want one what, stash or demi-god????

I don't think my stash is work $12K.....but it's a pretty good idea. Of course, most of it is at me mum's house until Dannyboy and I move into the big house this summer. {sigh}

To be away from one's stash is not fun 'tall. Crying or Very sad
melody yarns

No not fun 'tall 'tall.

Where you gonna stash it then in this new house?

edited cos I thought it was a bit too cheeky for anyone under the age of nine to read Embarassed

Both (I'm greedy)

Actually the Demi-god of stashes would be a good start. Twisted Evil
gilraen

Oh I can't bear to be away from my stash at all (it sits in the overflowing cot at the side of my bed, baby is now 2 Wink ) any further and I'd be way too distressed Rolling Eyes Smile

Jon STASH in another house would leave me gasping! My sympathies about that one and hope the new home materalises asap. Smile
Jon the Yank

Well, for right now, the stash will have it's own room. It's in big Rubbermaid tubs, like 18 gal and 20 gal tubs.

I've even made Dan go out and buy some tubs for the purchases that I have made since we've been shacked up. I think it amazes him how the yarn acquisitions outpace my knitting capacity. Very Happy

The only thing it can't outpace is my funds! Laughing
