Hello from Applejack!

Hello everyone - I'm Alice, aka Applejack, and I've just joined up. Very Happy I've had a quick look round and it seems like there's definitely a lot going on here! I wish I'd found your Sock-a-month earlier as I'm up to 19 pairs so far for 2007 - as you might imagine I don't really knit very much other than socks. Embarassed I've already finished a pair that I think would have been eligible for June, but I gave them to my Grandma for her birthday yesterday without taking a photo. Rolling Eyes Never mind though, I've got enough sock wool to knit, shall we say, a few more pairs!

I have just taught myself how to crochet too - I decided that the one thing missing from my life was a huge, brightly coloured granny square blanket, so I dusted off my neglected copy of the Happy Hooker and took the plunge! I'm really enjoying learning a new skill, hopefully I'll be able to pick up a few tips while I'm here.

Well I've probably gone on for long enough for now - better get back to work. Looking forwards to getting to know you all.

Alice xx

Spot on missus - that's exactly where the name is from! I had Applejack and my twin sister had Bowtie. Very Happy I also had Bubbles, but she was one of the sitting-down ones, so she couldn't wear the little outfits and our Flower Fairies couldn't ride around on her... Ah, childhood memories! Embarassed

BTW, I think I recognise you and a few others here from another forum, where my nom-de-net is Ali Bee. Very Happy Nice to see you all here!

OMG I'm having flashbacks to the early 80s now! Shocked According to that site the ones we had went by the delightful name of "Fumitory Fairy" - sounds more like a cigar than a flower. Confused

Hi Alice, thought I'd said hello earlier but I got interrupted. I too have always hankered after a granny- square blanket - and granny squares are the one thing I can crochet. How about a granny- square - blanket - along (phew) later in the year?

Civilknit - I would definitely be up for a granny-square-along sometime. Those little squares are almost as addictive as socks. Wink
