Hello from amberpearlHi, this is the first forum I've joined although I've visited some and dipped in on reading various topics, pleas for help, etc...
I've been knitting forever it seems, from when my age was still in single figures and I'm now 52. I've tackled most types of projects, I think but that doesn't mean there isn't something new out there, in fact with forums and blogs I am learning all the time. I learned to knit from my mother, grandmother and an aunt, my mum and gran are no longer with us and I seldom have any contact with my aunt any more as she is very elderly and doesn't live near. My first large project I remember was a knitted top and shorts for my P6 needlework project, whcih would make me about 10 then. I still remember what it looked like and it was all finished successfully but I no longer have it, I'm sure it would be an object for much amusement if I was able to look at it now.
WIPs are too many to list as part of my intro but my active projects include a cotton sweater in Araucania Patagonia, stretchy rib cotton sleeveless top from fitted knits, morning glories wrap in great big sea and current sock in progress is a pair of no purl monkies. There's loads more "resting" projects which pop back into active every now and then. I work full time for a computer software company (I've been in IT all my working life so it holds no fear for me) and help keep my elderly MIL active so knitting time is at a premium. I only wish I could warp time so I could have more knitting time every day.
I'm sure as time goes on I'll remember all the other stuff I should be fessing up to here but that's enough for now. I hope to be hanging around from time to time.

I can't believe how many replies there have been in so short a time.
I'll pass on the tea(bleh) and bickies, much rather have a lager/cider and a packet of crisps but as I've snuck in here at work there won't be any of that. However DH and I are taking MIL out for a meal later as it's her 87th b'day today. I reckon I'll have me a few glasses of red wine to help her celebrate and DH is driving. Woohoo!!
