Heartstrings Beaded Scarf - Swatching

I saw the Heartstrings Beaded Lace Scarf II (see blue scarf below) during the ISE4 and thought no more of it until this week. I can't get my hands on a copy of the pattern in time to make a scarf for my ISE5 pal, however, I think I can fudge something similar.

If I'm not mistaken (which I probably am), does this lilly of the valley pattern look like s similar lace pattern used in the Heartstrings scarf? Obviously to get the wavy effect I would have to knit one pattern leaning to the right and another repeat leaning to the left.

(I copied the chart from the Black Purl website, and flipped it onto its side. I also flipped a second copy in the opposite direction to see if I could get the same wavy motion in the Heartstrings scarf.

What do you think? Am I wasting my time?

Heartstrings Beaded Lace Scarf - Swatches

I'm in the process of knitting up some swatches for this scarf. The yarns I have planned for swatches are:

1) King Cole Merino DK
2) Rowanspun 4ply
3) Merino Tencel
4) Laceweight Merino

Here's swatch number 1) in King Cole Merino DK

I must admit that I much prefer working with DK or 4ply rather than laceweight. And I was thinking of making a scarf of about 6" wide rather than the 11 inches called for in the pattern. I'll post some pictures as I finish each swatch.

I have a feeling the Merino Tencel will be a perfect weight but not sure if I have enough. Again, more once I've done the swatch.

toodles.

Also, I'm having a real dilemma about what yarn to use. I love the look of Lane Borgosesia - see it at Jannette's Rare Yarns. This would be perfect and some of the colours are ideal. But I doubt I could cope with it being laceweight. I wonder if I could double it up....

Oh, they are gorgeous colours! Why not try an almost solid colour sockyarn? There are lots about, with several talented dyers on this very forum Very Happy
Or if you like the merino tencel i am sure Natalie would be able to do a custom dye-job if you asked her nicely enough Wink
