I have the pattern in front of me, the one I did yesterday at Wool.

I have white baby aran yarn and a 4.5mm hook. I also have a complete numpty moment with regard to the instructions. They just won't do what I want them to do. Either that or I'm reading them wrongly again like I did yesterday (Sunday) Embarassed

Help! Can someone translate the 1st round for me after the 11 trbs into the ring? I keep getting five corners, and even a preschool teacher like me knows that ain't right for a square Embarassed

Hiya,
You should end up with 3 bars inbetween each corner, make sure you knit your first 5 trebles in the bottom of the chain 3. I have to count the treble directly below the 5 you have just done and count another 2 so you have the 3 between the corners.
does that make sense at all

Without seeing the pattern i can't help i'm afraid but hopefully Chrissy has explained it wellenough for it to "click" with you Smile

Yes, Chrissy explained it perfectly! At about 1am last night I finally realised that I needed to put the hook into the stitch and not the space between stitches, so Chrissy's explanation is spot on.

I knew you would understand my dribbling, lol, I only know because that is where I was going wrong and it was only when she took it off me and showed me it made sense, glad you got there in the end
