FinishalongWondered if anyone was interested in joining me in a finishalong?
I'd really like to clear up all those half finished things that are lurking around in various bags and boxes - I've frogged quite a lot and have come up with a top five.
Cardi for me - half and sleeve and sewing up left to do
Lacy Kerchief scarf - about a quarter left
Sublime Landgirls waistcoat - half done
Fingerless gloves - half done
Sirdar hoodie - a bit over half done
Valentine's Day (8 weeks away) is the target to get at least three of these done. I'm not doing them to the exclusion of anything else - but just a bit more focus on them.

I like to start the new year with a projects finish-off so I'll join you! I only have five projects though one of which will be finished by this lunchtime:
a) Blaze cardigan which is currently hibernating
b) Henrietta cardigan - hibernating
c) February Lady Sweater - about half done
d) One Button cardigan from Eco Knits II - hating this but half way up the back so I might as well continue
I aim to have the Feb sweater knitted by the end of December but the hibernating projects will be finished off for the warmer weather.
I also have two projects awaiting stitching up so I might make a start on one of those this evening!

Great idea! Yeah, count me in please! I've frogged a lot recently too, and top 5 major things (not scarfs or socks) are:
Batshawl - main body of it is done, just need to pick up and do the border - FINISHED!!
Perugino throw - has been OTN for over a year, about 3/4 done - FINISHED
Sirdar hoodie (or perhaps not-hoodie) - still a sleeve and the fronts to do - FROGGED
Winter Blossom shawl - about a 1/4 done, but I'm really enthusiastic about it at the moment
Cheshire Cat stole - still a lot to do on that, and it does depends on whether I can ever find the safe place I've put my beading hook! FROGGED
Hmm, rather a lot of laceweight in there. Oh well! I like the idea of aiming for 3 by Valentine's Day, and of not limiting myself just to working on these

Oh fab idea loobyj!
Count me in. I've got:
- Bergere de France Cable sweater, one third of the way up the back, I'd love to get this finished it's been OTN for nearly a year and it's lovely
- Babette blanket, progressing well and need a push now to finish it off
- Ilga Leja Queen of the Waves shawl - about one third through, it's really lovely too but I got fed up with all the wraps and then it was winter and I couldn't face it, but I'd like to have it for spring
- Mystery Stole 3 (Swan Lake) - I've hardly got anywhere with this, and I thought about frogging it but it's too lovely, so I'd like to carry on and finish it.
I've also got a scarf in Tao silk about half way done (crochet) which I'm not sure about finishing, so it's on the list, but...
Like you I won't do these exclusively, but I would like to get on and give them a bit more focus. February for the first three seems reasonable...

Great idea, I have these to finish:
- Alhambra scarf
- Sirdar cardi - one sleeve to make them seaming and edging left to do
- Flutter Sleeve cardi - this only really has a bit of seaming and edgings to do
The last two I am aiming to complete over the next couple of weeks, am currently doing some Thingmas knitting which takes priority

Count me in. I have a Bergere de France cable jumper which I started doing over two years ago to finish. I only have the sleeves to do so aim to have a good go at them after Christmas day. Hope to get it finished be the end of January.

I'm in, but as most of my stuff is laceweight, I'm not sure it will be finished by valentine's day, but I'll give it a go.
I have a handspun shawl to cast off - all 320 odd stitches of it.
Finish the seraphim shawl in laceweight
Finish my kimono shawl, also laceweight.

Me too, I have 2 cardigans to finish, one in navy blue Wool Cotton which I am heartily sick of, mainly because I started something else, frogged it and am now knitting this one, and I absolutely loathe knitting with frogged yarn Just the sleeves to do now.
The other is an aran weight cardi in red Debbie Bliss luxury aran tweed - done the back.
I would like to get these both finished by mid January.
I am itching to cast on something new.....................

I've been an a finishalong for the last week and hoping to carry on until the end of the month.
So far I have finished
-wee socks which were filled with a sweet and toy for my sunday school class
- my sons hoodie, just got to sew it up tonight.
My nativity is nearly finished too, and I am hoping to finish at least one of the mystery shawls I started this year, one just need the border, the other is half done.

Mmm - most of my WIPs are finished, I'm on the first sleeve of the February Lady Sweater, (just) I had a bit of a stall last night, as I fell asleep while watching TV. That usually means I am ill or exhausted. Hopefully it's just exhaustion, I had a really busy day.
I still have the long standing WIP - the christening gown, so that may be an early 2009 finish, but I'm not sure yet. Maybe DH's jumper? That WON'T be done by next Thursday

Oh goodie - lots of you with things to finish As much as anything I need to free up some needles! I've got loads of needles, but only a handful of pairs I knit with...
To encourage myself I've put all of the 'finishees' into a nice fresh box, made sure all the patterns are there, needles for sewing up, tape measure etc.

Same here ...
That cardigan looks fab Debs - get that needle out and do the sewing, it's so nearly there!
I picked up the border for the Batshawl last night and did the first 10 rows. So only 20 more to go, on about 350 stitches and some blocking. Might get it done by Christmas ...
|

Well my sons hoodie is now sewn up, and I finished my goddess knits anniversary shawl, I had ran out of yarn 5/6 of the way round the border so ripped back the border and redid it in black jaggerspun zephyr. Finally finished it last night, just got to block it now.
Going to sew up the nativity next then might see if I can finish MS4, its half done at present.

I picked up the needles this afternoon for the first time and have done a few rows of the BdF cable sweater. I like it so much that once I get going again I enjoy doing it, I ahve just had so many interruptions and then it takes ages to get my head round it.

I've been working on Alhambra and I have 7 repeats done, which in theory is almost half way. I then weighed the remaining yarn (Posh Eva 2-ply) and I have 34g left out of 50 Methinks this scarf will be a bit bigger than the original - then again the original only used around 300 yards and Eva has 400.
I was doing fine on this until I decided to start the Westside cap, which I'm about to head off to finish

I got my B de F jumper out of hiding and finally started the sleeves, like Carola now I have started it I really like it again. Hopefully will get at least one sleeve knitted over the next week, anyhow I am determined to get it finished before I pick up anything else.

I'm joining!
I want to finish
* Riding to Avalon hoodie. I've knitted the rest of sweater, only hood left to be done.
* Aleksanteri's Tiger Sweater. It's maybe 40% done, but I got annoyed with intarsia tiger - eight tiny balls of yarn in one row - and it has been on the bookshelf since November.
* Green afghan. I'm making a garter stitch afghan from all green cotton yarns I have in stash, and it was supposed to be my brother's birthday gift last year. There isn't so much to knit, it's more about getting it done because endless garter stitch isn't very interesting.
I'm planning to start next week when children go to kindergarten and I have more free time in my hands.

I'm heading down to see my Dad on 2nd January, maybe I could resurrect my Lady Sweater (which I'm hating) but won't let myself start Tempest until it's finished.
I've also got my sock yarn cardi to sew up

I've been plodding along with my BdF sweater, I've done nearly 1/3 of the way up the back now I think. I've been helped by being not at all well but well enough to watch Stargate reruns and knit. Today I am feeling quite a lot better but someone seems to have put a red hot needle through my left sinus, ouch.
It is looking really nice, I'll post a picture when I get to the underarms, that will give me a target.

I'm in on this. I've realised that I have far too many things OTN & have finished a couple yesterday. I had a Round Dishcloth that I finished in October but hadn't grafted it. It was finally done last night I also had 10 rows left to do on a Christmas Lace Cloth which was also finished last night.
Then I picked up my Baby Ribbon Blanket which had been thrown into a corner as I'd missed a yo. I found that somehow two stitches had been dropped off a few bands below (at the colour change) & have to graft it back up. Firstly though I'm going to finish the knitting....
I've got the yarn to make myself both a cardigan & a jumper but want to get some WIP's out of the way first

I've just found something else to add to the list as well. A chunky cardigan/jacket that only needs the sleeves sewing in How stupid's that??????

Heres the stuff I have finished so far this month.
Kings for nativity
A hoodie for my wee boy using yarn left over from my FLS.
and the goddess knits anniversary shawl, it just needs blocking now.
I ran out of yarn doing the border on this so frogged back and knitted the border in leftover jaggerspun zephyr, main bit of the shawl is Cherry tree hill merino lace (I think)

It was sirdar pattern 2228, 22"-32" chest, got it from Diannes, only 50p postage for a pattern leaflet, and used Stylecraft aran with wool, about 300g, the shade is blackwatch (black, blue and dark green twisted together)

Hmm. Well, after trying on the sleeves on their own (iyswim) I think they are very close fitting, and not necessarily what I'd want from a jackety thing. And I'm probably a row (which is quite a lot on 10mm needles) over on the length of the armhole on the body. So, there's more than just my finishing skills to blame
I'm going to frog the sleeves and remake them a few stitches wider - they were really quick to do so it shouldn't take long. At least that way I'll have a jacket I'm happy to wear, rather than one that's finished that I won't wear!

I've finished the back, and here it is:
I'm very pleased with it. It really is a lovely design, I agree with Malteser that the pattern seems to be unnecessarily complicated or difficult to follow, but the actual knitting is fairly straightforward.
