ElaineHi everyone,
Thought I would introduce me. I'm just getting into crafting, specifically knitting, hope to get better at crochet, want to learn to patchwork and have cross-stitched on and off for years.
I'm Irish, living in Dublin with OH and 5yr old boy and 3 yr old girl, cat, chickens and dog. Will be working parttime until Christmas until I give it up in favour of more family oriented life, which I really hope will include a little more time for knitting & other projects
Ummmm....I'm a virgo, a bit picky, but creative. Oh, and I know Auntie Noo from another forum, so thanks Noo for recommending what looks to be a friendly and helpful forum.
Anyway, be gentle with me, only a beginner!

Hi Elaine - Great to see you made it!! If you need any help with anything just yell. There is a whole section on sewing, but if you need help with your patchwork then just ask on there, as we talk more about knitting really, but lots of people sew so there will be plenty of help.
Welcome!

I'm from Ballinteer and have ended up back here after much travelling and apartment living. I love This is Knit, Margaret, great place. Do you go to Blackrock or Powerscourt? Where was your Mum from?

Just as an aside Elaine, 2 areas you now have access to as a member of the forum.
The Powder Room, is for general chat on life love and the universe, but it does get "Pruned" of any posts over 30 days old.
The Shrug and Parrot, is a wee bit more grown up (although I think our younger members do still have access) and is for stuff that we don't want pruned...... ongoing stuff......... things we may want reference to which aren't craft related....... and all our parties are held there!!!! We also sometimes slip in there of an evening to "chat" with a glass of whatever takes your fancy!

Hi Elaine my Mum was born in Malahide and grew up in Finglas/Phibsboro and later settled in Raheny. Her mother was born 'within the 5 lamps', beside the old cinema. My Aunt who I was visiting lives in Blackrock and that's where I was today. Aileen was maning the shop, it's the first time I have actually met her
I would love to make one of their knit nights but am rarely down on a Thursday with work/school and when I am the knit nights haven't been on!!! One Day!!
It is lovely to see you here, I hope you hang around some more They are a lovely bunch of knitters/nutters here

Small world, my Gran was from Malahide & my Dad grew up in Clontarf. I worked out that way when I was in school so I know it well.
I've done one of the courses so have met Aileen and one or two of the others. I must check out a Knit-night, it's not far for me.
Thanks again all, for the lovely welcome.
