This is the pattern we're talking about:

Liesl
terri

Me, I'm in!!!! Will hopefully get a start in the morning, and may even have it finished after the bank holiday weekend Very Happy
melody yarns

Eeeeep! I haven't even printed the pattern off yet (I've been out all day though)
melody yarns

Off to print off the pattern and knit a swatch...
terri

I'm in a quandry already Confused
The pattern says 7mm needles, but its not a US size, so I only have circs in 6.5mm or 8mm......................... I'm thinking I might go with 8mmk so it's a little lacier and open, I'm not too sure though Rolling Eyes
melody yarns

I haven't had a lot of time to reply today.... sorry  Embarassed  I knitted a swatch on 7mm Brittany birch needles using aran yarn, and then chunky yarn. The aran tension was nowhere near using the 7mm needles, but the chunky was bang on stitch count wise. The row count was off by 1 row... so that'll do for me!

I ordered my 7mm circ and 7mm DPNs from Modern Knitting who had both in stock, so I saved myself double postage. I'll start on the Brittany birch needles and then switch as soon as the circ arrives.

I'll be knitting my Liesl in Sirdar Spree chunky which is a 60% cotton 40% acrylic mix yarn and I have it in *ahem* lots of different shades. So all I have to do is choose a shade and cast on! I think I'll either use indigo, or mocha mix which is beige and cream vareigated.
terri

I cast on yesterday using 8mm........... I haven't swatched Embarassed  I'm thinking though that if I make the 34" at a nice open gauge, it'll fit around my expanding body ok. I can try on as I go anyway Very Happy
I've only managed the first row so far though Laughing
melody yarns

I thought today that if I knitted the 38" at a tighter gauge it would be okay too  Wink  Laughing  Laughing but I haven't got any 6.5mm circs or dpns either!!  Laughing  Laughing I'm going to make a start on it this afternoon after I've tidied up a bit... I've still got the remains of my stash-tidying lying around upstairs and I really need to get it sorted out and away.
melody yarns

My 7mm circ and dpns arrived this morning, so fab service from Modern Knitting.... however, I've had to frog the work I've done in this so far because I reckon it would have come out too small. I WAS doing the 34" but now I shall cast on again for the 38" finished measurement.

At least it's a quick and easy knit so frogging and rekniting isn't that much of a chore!  Razz
terri

I'm down to the body now after separating for the sleeves. It is looking very open, but I like it Smile
melody yarns

Oooh motoring!! Any Piccies to show us??
terri

I've finished the body and had a try on. Obviously it doesn't cover my tummy, but other than that it fits fine I think Confused  Will be fine once its blocked! I'll post pictures later this morning before I start the sleeves Very Happy

How are you going with yours you two????
melody yarns

I'm just about getting near to the end of the yoke bit.... had to tink a few rows as I'd forgotten a buttonhole  Rolling Eyes and getting to the end of my first 100g ball of yarn. I reckon I will be dividing for the body and sleeves on this row or the next 19th row as it's nearly there for length I think. I need to try it on just to check though!

So far it's been a very well written pattern, although I couldn't understand a word of it before I actually got going with it! Easy to knit and it looks good too! A lot quicker than the FLS as well  Wink
terri

Here it is so far!

You're right Debs, it is much quicker than FLS!!!!!!!
pictish

Ooooh that's gorgeous!!! What a pretty cardi it's going to be Cool
melody yarns

Oh my goodness! That's gorgeous-ness itself!!!!

{I must say you're looking very slim and trim in that shot missus  Laughing , and I do like your necklace  Wink }
cazzie

Looking good Very Happy

When did you cast on Terri?? That's super speedy knitting y'know - I wish I was half as fast  Sad I have so many ideas and they fall at the first hurdle cos I'm so s-l-o-w....

BUT! I've discovered that I really like knitting with Addi circs cos the ends of the long straight needles don't get stuck in your pockets when you're sitting cross legged on the sofa knitting! I might have to change over to Addi circs I think --- I even prefer the metal tips to the bamboo ones cos the join is 'slicker'
murdo

Im unpicking again...watching tv and not writing down rows...ahem!
terri

I cast on and did one row on monday I think Confused  I haven't knitted that much this week cos I've been feeling tired, and I've been knitting socks in the evening too Smile
Nevisknitter

Thats lovely Terri, looking forward to seeing it finished.
melody yarns

I divided for the sleeves and body yesterday afternoon but we camped out again last night so only a few rows done on the body  Confused but it's getting there! It's a quick knit too so it shouldn't be long before it's finished (I hope!)
craftylady

That's looking very pretty Terri.  Methinks someone else modelled the shot for you tho!!
terri

You're a cheeky lot!!!! I still look that size from behind Wink  Laughing
slowasasnail

That looks lovely.  Think it'll be great in warm weather.

Well this has been a very quick knit for me - I cast off the body and started and finished the first sleeve last night, so only the last sleeve to do. I cast on on the 8th April so it's a very quick knit considering that I've had to frog several rows several times because I made a mistake on the same row twice!! Grrr!! And we've camped out and I haven't knitted this partiular project for a few nights as I was doing other stuff.

I'll be looking for buttons today for it. It looks really good already (even without the second sleeve!) and has taken just over 3 balls of Sirdar Spree so far I'll definitely be knitting this again and I'm already looking round for alternative yarns to use!
terri

I've just finished mine too Debs! I did cap sleeves in the end, so I can wear it and get a little sun on my arms Laughing  Hopefully pictures while its still light, but it won't be blocked Confused
cazzie

Looking forward to piccies of both Very Happy

Your Liesl is absolutely fab Terri and you look really good in it {{{hugs}}}
melody yarns

My Liesl is finished! Finished last night but still needs the ends darning in and the buttons sewing on. And blocking.

I'm *really* pleased with this, it's been a great success!
franney

Excellent stuff debs, well done!! Very Happy
