What do you think? I have a gift voucher too!

murdo
What colours of red are you thinking of Pictish?
KnittingLadybird
I like it with the top one cos I like the contrast. The bottom is also well matched for a more subtle effect between the main and the bands...depends on what you look prefer but both go well.
read that again, it sounds chinese lol

One of you - ( now I wonder who that was !! ) has suggested I get involved in this - although not sure how much I can help with the colourways.
With 23 different colour combinations in Fabel, and 54 in the Alpaca then there will be a pretty close match available. The problem is finding it from a computer screen - not easy.
I suggest, go ahead and pick what you think may work, order it, and
then write me a quick mail quoting our ref nbr, and telling me it's Crafty yarns DROPSALONG.
I'll then make sure, before shipping, that your chosen colour does match with a colour in the Fabel - and if not, I'll contact you. If you've already got either Fabel or Alpaca in your stash and you want to use that - then let me know and we'll work something out.
To answer your question, Murdo, FABEL 905 goes all the way from off-white through various greys - ending up with a deep charcoal Grey - but not Black. Having said that, it goes brilliantly with the Black Alpaca so you should have no concerns about that.
This sounds fun !!

That's very kind and helpful Bruce!!!

...especially since I got code wrong..it should have been 901 not 909.
OK girls, I am going with 901 purple and green mix Fabel and 4400 purple alpaca.
pictish
Very nice!!!!!
cazzie
I'm still in
Still undecided about pattern
At the moment I'm swaying towards this one
http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/l...cket-with-hood-in-2-threads-fabel
I have 10 balls of Fabel in 677 (I think - must check) Need to decide what to put with it - the dither continues

Oh dear, I keep misreading the title of this thread as Dropsyalong ... That really wouldn't be much fun
This one's not for me but I shall watch on in interest. Get on and decide on those yarns girls!
murdo
My yarns arrived...a last years birthday pressie finally used Thanks for super speedy delivery Oliver
murdo
I am having trouble getting gauge and as it's a sideways construction that is too big a concern for me to risk it fitting length/width wise at the end of sewing up...BUT I am loving the Fabel in garter, so I am going to try and cobble my own top-down cardi of pullover...did loads of swatches yesterday...so Thunderbirds are go!!!!
How's everyone else doing?
cazzie
Look forward to piccies in due course
I havent started yet - still havent decided which pattern and also trying to finish off my Hatfield Cardi (i'm on the sleeves now) - but I will join in soon

That's a lovely pattern Cazzie!
murdo
ok, finished the collar
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3056/3005076030_f3f3080ee9.jpg?v=0
I am doing a top down sweater in the alpaca and fabel. Used slip stitch for collar after a wee bit of trying different things.
I can't make up my mind if I should do a garter stitch body or a ss body. I quite like the garter look BUT does this tend to droop after???? I am using two strands of alpaca together for this part and am changing needle size.
cazzie
Oooo looks lovely so far - cant help about which to do on the body - agree garter stitch would look good but it does tend to stretch - how about a textured garter/ss type stitch - not sure what one - I'm at work so cant look at my stitch books to make any suggestions
murdo
Going to go for ss....figured that as I want it quite fitted the decreases wouldlook better that way
pictish
That looks amazing Jackie!!! Love those colours together. Think you're right to go for ss body.
murdo
Went for ss body Just about to join under arms

cazzie
I've officially started
After major dither sessions - I am using yarn from stash some Fabel sock yarn. I wanted to keep the self patterning bit of the yarn rather than losing it so went for this pattern in the end.
Havent done loads as only started late last night.

murdo
