Dissolution by C J SansomJust finished this - it's set in the C16th at the time of the dissolution of the monasteries - it's a murder mystery if you like that sort of thing . I'm reading the next one - Dark Fire - now His most recent one - Sovereign is half price in Tescos

S'ok Terri - I bought a copy of Sovereign last week thanks Got the other 2 out the library tho. I think they're still in print tho - I don't think it matters THAT much but I like to read them in the right order myself but each one is a standalone thing. But you do see the main character develop as it goes along.

I read Sovereign a few weeks ago (got it in Waitrose), I didn't realise there had been earlier books about the same character. It was a very good read and much more informative about the period than my A level history! I will derfinitely go and get the first two books now.

he shocked the kids this morning by coming back at 8am complete with car and kit, as he'd left something behind. Not sure DD recognised him.
anyway, he's said he'll look out for the books for me, so no need for a raid now.

Ali, I've read one of his books without realising it though not a medeival one, it is called Winter in Madrid and is set briefly in the Spanish Civil War but mostly WW2. I really liked it. I shall have to look out for his other books.
