CTNY Summer SpinningI've been thinking this idea a while and here it goes:I like a lot the Sock yarn challenge we have on this forum. And I've noticed quite many members have started to spin. I love seeing your yarns! The thing is that I'm starting to have quite big fiber stash. I don't have as much time to spin as I would like, because boys don't understand they should leave my wheel alone. I usually cannot spin if I'm alone with them so I knit instead. Sadly, it doesn't make me immune to siren call of roving 
I'd like to start a spin-a-long here. We could pick something from our fiber stashes we'd like to spin each month and post the finished yarns on the forum. The challenge would run from June to August and in the end of August I'll write spinners' names on paper and put them in a hat. Boys will pick two names, and I'll send them fiber prizes. I think that having company would help me to spin more and I'm always curious to see what others are doing. Donating the prizes is a thank you for all of you who have been so supportive during the last winter. |

That sounds like a good idea  I have been a bit lazy when it comes to spinning, I have quite a stash of fibre sitting in a corner I have brought the wheel into the livingroom so that it reminds me to do a bit spinning every day

That sounds a great idea. I have a drop spindle on it's way from a friend in the states and am hoping to buy a wheel over the next few months or so - finances permitting.

That's a lovely idea! I'm a total beginner at spinning - I was only saying yesterday that I need to give it another try - so maybe it would encourage me to have another go with my spindle. | ||

Good to hear so many of you are interested in joining!
I think that too many rules are restrictive, so anyone who spins even one yarn during the Summer Spinning SAL and posts a picture on forum will get her name in the hat. It would be nice if you could post the picture of fiber and the finished yarn because I'm always curious to see how different results people get from the same fiber. But finished yarn picture is the one which counts toward the prize. I made a photo album of my fiber stash. You can see it here. I usually manage to spin only one top in a month, so stash keeps growing. |

It would be lovely to see what everyone spins.
My spindle only arrived the other day, and I am still waiting for the book, so I may or may not join in (depends how I get on, and like many others if I can find enough hours in the day) but it's a great idea and I will watch with interest if nothing else. |

Great idea. I'm in. Do I need to do anything else to join? I'm happy to donate some fiber as prizes too Hanne as I've got tons of it. And only been spinning since last September.

No, you don't have to do anything else. I think it would be easiest to have one discussion thread for each month and moderators could make it sticky so it is easily found. Thank you for offering  It would be nice.
