Crocheting with Cotton

I've been swinging a hook round lately with some baby yarn trying to crochet a baby blanket for the SCBU knitalong. I'm having problems. Confused

Anywhoodle, I was going to abandon the crochet baby blanket in favour of something a bit err...... easier..... and have found a long, sleeveless summer top worked in Patons Pearl DK which was discontinued ages ago.

BUT - would it be easy or not to work with DK cotton? I could shorten the top and crochet a vest top instead.

Crocheting hurts my elbow that I sprained a few months ago anyway...... Crying or Very sad

As long as the tension is the same in theory you could use the cotton DK. But, the original yarn was described as pearl and so may have been a more slippery yarn that would give good drape - the cotton may not give the same effect. It would be worth you doing a small swatch to make sure you like the feel of the fabric that you're producing.

Thanks for the advice LoobyJ, but I think I've given up on crochet for the time being Wink . I achieved more with two needles in the space of half an hour than I did in the last three days with a hook Sad
