Crimbo cake questionif anyone's here....we're just about to put our crimbo cake in the oven to cook - it says to cover with a double sheet of silicon paper (we have this so no probs) - what I'm not sure is - do you just put it right on top of the mixture or on top of the tin and tie it on somehow?

Just use greaseproof paper and tie a double layer on top of the tin. It's just to help the mixture cook through without burning the top....You could probably use foil too...

I usually just lay mine on the top of the mixture, but don't press it down. It's to stop it burning.

Thanks! We just shoved it on top Seemed to work ok. Looks like a crimbo cake anyway!

You just place the paper on the top, but I always cut a hole in the middle about the size of a 50p as thats what Delia says to do

Yep, thats the key - feed it lots of brandy between now and Christmas and it will be lovely and moist (and a little tipsy)
