Cookie A's new bookI got my copy of Cookie A's new book Sock Innovation this morning from Socktopus. The patterns are amazing and very clever but the truly brilliant sections are those about design. She explains the main heel and toes types really clearly and then goes on to explain how different elements work in design. There's also lots of really clever bits about inverting stitches and changing flat design into in the round design.
I want to knit all the socks in the book too.

I've asked for it as a birthday present, and I really really hope I get it! Otherwise I'll be straight on to Amazon to get myself a copy I think it's a book I just won't be able to live without

Got mine today too - super speedy service from Socktopus. I had preordered from Amazon but canceled and got it from Socktopus instead. It looks like a great book. I'm really going to enjoy it.

I have preordered mine too but from Play.com I wish I had cancelled and ordered from Alice now. I love the look of the patterns!

Same here Gilraen!!!!!!!!!!! There seems to have been loads of problems with amazon delivering these. I've had mine on pre order for months, it had an estimated dispatch date of today but its not even showing up as dispatching soon, so obviously not on its way And Alice has none left in stock now  Amazon are normally really good with preorders, you normally receive them on the day of release, but I'm not happy at all that I won;t get mine tomorrow

amazon have changed my estimated delivery date to May1st!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've just cancelled my order with amazon and ordered from the book depository who are dispatching within 48 hours. It's £2 more but I'm not waiting a month for amazon to send it

I've had a few bad experiences with Amazon and preorders in the past so I don't use them for pre orders now.

Oh for goodness sake - I have had this book on pre-order with Amazon for MONTHS!!!!!!!
I was lucky enough to see the book at the recent workshop - it's a wonderful book.

Wouldn't you have thought that someone somewhere would realise that they didn't have enough copies for everybody who'd preordered You can buy it and it says 1-3 weekd dispatch, surely that can't be right as they had changed my estimate to May 1st, whihc is a month away
The book depository have my order as in "processing", hopefully they have it in stock

I have just cancelled my copy too. To think I could have ordered it from Alice but didn't because I felt obligated to my pre-order.

I had the same problem - pre-ordered with Amazon in january for an April delivery then last week that suddenly changed to MAY!!!
Cancelled and ordered with book depository as they stated 1st April despatch.. then on the 1st April - said NO stock will tell me when available!!
Not happy so complained - they then cancelled my order!! BUT had stock with 48 hours at a higher price on their site!!
I complained again - they agreed to another order at the old price... (raise at current they would amend)..
They tried to amend - but cancelled the order by mistake!!
THEN reduced the price on their website and to 24 hours.. asked me to reorder again and gave me an additional £5 off!!
Not sure I'm meant to have this book - so will se when it appears - order still "processing"

Alice ( Socktopus ) has some more in stock. I have just ordered from her, and cancelled my Book Depository order.
Alice had 15 this morning, there are now 11 left!
eta, these are going quickly, 8 left now.

Just been napping 
I've ordered one from Alice, I checked this morning and she had them as pre order, so thanks for the info Joy.
Trouble is now though, I can't work out how to cancel my book depository order It's not simple like amazon and I can't find how to do it

Amazon will forward an email for you.
Go into your account and click on Cancel Items or Orders then when you find your Book Depository order click View Order which will then give you the option to click Problem with this order which should lead you to an email link which amazon will forward to you. I had a reply from then withtin 20 minutes confirming the refund.

I didn't order through amazon, I went direct with Book depository, but been following a thread on Ravelry in one of the cookie Forums and loads of people are getting emails saying the demand is higher than supplies they have and so they can't fulfill the orders. I've emailed them, but imagine they will be cancelling the order from their end anyway 
And whilst at socktopus, some malabrigo and smooshy jumped into my basket too Only because of the drama this book has caused me

I emailed the Book Depository this am about my order and asked what was happening, they told me mine is despatched and the site shows it as out of stock now. I'm glad to hear that!!
I hope yours comes soon too
