Converting patterns from dpns to 2 circs

I'm rather a sock making novice - have made only 3 pairs, one on dpns  tongue1 one on magic loop  Confused  and one pair two at a time on two circs  Very Happy - and the last lot would be my weapons of choice.
Now DD has actually banned me from knitting any more socks because I moaned non stop the whole time I was making the last pair (it was the pair on magic loop) but having had cold feet for days, then suddenly remembering my hand knit socks ( she has the other two pairs) I realised just how warm they are, so I'm thinking I might just have to make some more.
I know Sensational Socks has patterns for 2 circs, and there must be tons more out there, but I was just wondering, if anyone else takes a dpn pattern and knits it on 2 circs?  and are there any pitfalls to watch out for? (it's the heel instructions that look the most confusing, when they talk about how many stitches on which needles, how would I know what to do on just the two?)
Anna

I've never done this so can't really help but for the heel wouldn't you just use half the total number of stitches for the heel flap? I prefer magic loop and that's all you do for ML heels.

I have a while ago - no issues with it as far as I remember - if anything it is easier as all the heel stitches are on one needle ....

This site has two circ sock patterns
Blossom

I've been knitting socks on two circs for 2.5 years now and (apart from the Rivendell pattern that I just did where I had to jig them around to make the pattern line up down the front of the leg!) every pattern I have done you have half the stitches on one, half on the other, and when you come to the heel flap you simply knit your x number or heel flap rows with half of the stitches back and forth on one of the needles.  If you imagine when you are knitting them you are knitting the front and the back of the sock and they join at the sides.  Then, when you have turned your heel and picked up for the gusset, you will be knitting the two sides of the sock joining down the middle of the foot, so you are perfectly placed for the toe decreases.  The only jigging around you will have to do is when it comes to grafting the toe so it runs across the toes not through them...if you get my drift!

That sounds confusing...I've confused myself and I've been doing it for a few years!! Very Happy So...basically...any sock pattern can be done on two circs! Smile

I found THIS page and THIS page the most helpful when I taught myself to knit on two circs! Smile

Thank you for the links Cazzie (some lovely patterns there)  and Blossom particularly for the second site, very useful.

I agree 2 circs are easier and infact the only the reason I went for short row heels is that I find them even easier now (even on magicloop)

The Tidal wave sock pattern HERE- PDF link is a cracking 2 circ pattern imo Very Happy
Wildpurl

I do all my (few) socks on two circs and I do exactly what Blossom said. It's really easy. I use markers to identify where decreases should occurr instead of having aa dpn there IYSWIM.

Oh yes, I like that pattern.  Thank you for the link.
*nips off to Ravelry to add it to the queue*
