Chant No 1That old Spandau Ballet track is totally lodged in my brain, can't shift it. And it's entirely down to the tv trailers for the new series of Ashes to Ashes, which I'm totally not into Brings back memories though, I was a total Spandau fan, as opposed to Duran Duran, either of the Kemp brothers in their youth would have been very nice, thank you!
anyone else suffering New Romantic nostalgia?

oooh no - I hated the 80's music!! - I was still into Led Zep and anything else generally loud! I just didn't get it at all - Mind you my taste in music has always been out of kilter, I think I was actually born about 50 years too late for the most part!

Very much so - saw Ultravox live last week, and have now arranged to go to the Camden Roundhouse gig late next week That one is being filmed for a tour DVD plus the main area is standing, so we get to go crazy Ultravox were by far my favourite band in the 80s, I liked Duran and Spandau but UV just blew me away.

OMG! I saw Ultravox live at Sheffield bck in 80s! And *ahem* Wham, although there were a goup of us who went cos I would have much preferred Duran Duran, ABC or Human League

oh yeah, Ultravox! I used to have a poster of Midge Ure, looking moody and dreamy and generally gorgeous. The accent helped too I didn't really get into popular music until the 80s so it's very much my era
Isn't it funny how Wham weren't seen to be cool at the time, at least not by the New Romantics, but really are now? I'll happily sing along!
Oh no, what have I done? Shouldn't have mentioned it. I'm so going to be singing Wham Rap all day now

When Robert was little he always used to sing "wake me up a coca cola" which I am afraid to say is what we still sing too
I LOVED Frankie Goes to Hollywood - the carnage nix of Two Tribes would be one of my Desert Island Discs for sure. Have you heard Frankie's version of Born to Run?
I went to see them when I was some 8 1/2 months pregnant with DD - a fabulous night out.

I like more of the 80's stuff than what actually remember in the 80's if that makes sense
Adam and the Ants, Heaven17, ABC....loads more too.
Joy..8.5mths PG!!!! I'd be singing "RELAX!!Don't Do It!.....

Well we're now going to see Simple Minds + OMD in December! Tickets are on presale at the moment, you need to register on simpleminds.com and the links are there. Wouldn't have known about it but it was posted on the Ultravox forum Just need to remember to wear warm socks and boots cos it's likely the MEN arena will have the ice rink in place, which they just put a floor over for gigs. Last time we went we almost got frostbite in our feet

oh my goodness, OMD! That's taken me back more years than I care to remember I went to see them at Portsmouth Guildhall back in the 80s. They were great! Which reminds me, I saw Julian Cope there too. And A-Ha. In fact I went to see A-Ha twice ... Oh Morten Harket and his amazing cheekbones, swoon Never was much into Simple Minds though, can't think why wasn't Jim Kerr married to Patsy Kensit for a while?
But it sounds like a fab gig DC, you'll have a great time! Get yourself some handknitted socks though
LOL at KLB - Salt 'n' Pepa, definitely not the track for that occasion

Yes I think Jim was married to Patsy Kensit, way back when!
I never got to go to gigs in the early 80s, being at school and having very little money *sob* not that I think I'd have been allowed to go on my own anyway! I've not been to that many music gigs at all, but am trying to make up for that nowadays

I have been suffering from terrible nostalgia this week - it all started when I was in WH Smith last Saturday bumped into a girl (now woman) who I used to work with nearly 30 years ago. Since then I've been playing old 70's and 80's music and looking up people on Friends Reunited. Its reminded me of how old I actually am and I'm not so sure I like it Good news is I have found sound fab tracks on You Tube (remember Sad Cafe anyone?) and also been in touch with a friend from work who I havent spoken to for 25 years.
I want to be 18 again

I was watching the bit on the one show about ultravox tonight and it got me all nostalgic too. Might have to search out some 80s cds

Tainted Love by Soft Cell - wonderful wonderful stuff.

I was definitely a Duran Duran baby, and I LOVED A-Ha, at least until NKOTB came along in the late 80s and they kidnapped me forever more
I still love 80s music though, and early 90s too.

Didn't know that was on, off to see if it's on iPlayer! Have just been watching the last part of Pop Britannia on BBC4 though, Midge was on that several times
A few pics I took last week at Manchester BTW, kept meaning to post them (click for the large versions):

Ooooh OMD! Awesome!! I would love to see them play
We're off to see The Specials in May, i'm really looking forward to it, not least because Terry Hall cracks me up
Did anyone see him on Jools Holland? Everyone else is jumping around, really animated, and he just stood there without even a smile on his face, he just looked so bored!
