Changing the template or top of my blog???

I am getting a bit bored of the look of my blog. I don't have a clue how to change the look of it!!

I don't want to move from blogger as I find it easy to use, but I don't fancy any of their templates.

I am awful with computers and don't want to lose my blog so does anyone know anyone or an easy way to get a nicer look to it!!!??

Is there a way of putting a picture on the top?

Thank you. I would be so grateful for some help!

Someone on blogger has done this screencast that shows you how to put up your own picture.

If it doesn't do quite what you want then post againa nd I can probably help you refine it further, but that is a good start

That was so helpful, I have managed to move over to a widgety blog now and have organised it how I want it!

The picture, if I make a picture to put at the top what size should it be? Or does anyone know a site that does free header bars that don't have their ad in the corner!!

thank you

It needs to be about the same size as the header bar you have.

BTW I think you will lose the round corners of the header if you replace it with your own picture.

If you want to try some pictures, once I see exactly what you want to do I can help get it looking right with some under the bonnet tweaking.

Jacquie,

I have done some things to it and put a new header on it. The header seems to have overshot the original top a bit, I don't mind losing the rounded corners but would like it the same all round, squared or rounded!

Also I can't seem to change the background colour that the links and comments to posts are in. It would look better in the greeny outer colour do you think. ???!!!

Please give me an honest opinion to the colours and if it reads clearly, we have a bad monitor here.

I really appreciate your help! x

To centre the header you can do the following:
1) click on the Template tab and Edit HTML
2)In the HTML find the bit that says
Code:
      <div id='header-inner'>
        <a href='http://queenofthefroggers.blogspot.com/' style='display: block'>
          <img alt='Queen Of The Froggers' height='158' id='Header1_headerimg' src='http://photos1.blogger.com/x/blogger2/1055/4000/1600/z/726523/gse_multipart46671.jpg' style='display: block' width='750'/>
        </a>
      </div>

3) Change the 750 to 709 taking care not to accidentally change anything else.
4) Save the changes and check what it looks like. 709 looked good to me, but you can change it to whatever looks best to you.

I will get back to you on the other things.
It looks like they have changed it so you get the rounded corners as a border which is nice.

I've done it!! Fabulous, thank you!

I like the new picture - love dew drops on things (except maybe on the ends of noses - eeww!).

Editing the HTML can cause unexpected results, so it is best if you are trying to do something other than just change one number to copy it and save it as a text document with Wordpad. That way if you mess it up you can just copy and paste the original back in.

Another tip. Only do one change at a time and then test that what you have done is ok before going on to the next thing. That way if it goes wrong you will know it had to be the last change you made that caused it.
