Central Park Hoodie

I'm cross with my CPH  Evil or Very Mad  I cast on to knit the 40" size and made calculations to make sure it would be large enough even though I was knitting with Sirdar aran that knitted to 18sts on 5m needles.

I finished the back last night so that I could hibernate it until the autumn and it's TOO SMALL!!  Evil or Very Mad  Evil or Very Mad  It measures 36" across the back  Evil or Very Mad  Evil or Very Mad

I'm thinking of starting again and knitting the 44" if I can be bothered to do it.

Grrrrr!!

Thats worrying to know. I was going to do the biggest size, and that would fit right, However I'm hoping to lose weight before next winter so hopefully if mine is small I will fit it eventually. I'm hoping to start mine next month.

this is one of the reasons why I dont knit items for me to wear  Rolling Eyes

I don't usually have problems with garments though  Sad  I'm going to start again I think cos I won't be happy if it's too small when it's finished  Evil or Very Mad

Oh No Debs, what a pain. I'm confused though, as I just made one at 18st & also made the 40" to compensate. It came out at 38". Can you not block it a little??

What a pain Evil or Very Mad  Evil or Very Mad It does look nice fitted tho but that might be a bit more fitted than you'd like Confused Is it worth starting now tho Debs??
Auntie Noo

COuld you not just knit the bigger fronts? - I agree that I like the look of them fitted rather than baggy, but will that be really stretched? such a shame...... I was going to start that over the weekend Confused
pictish

Mine LOOKS very small  - hope I have checked it but I can't remember now Confused
Rosie

Oh no Melody - im also knitting the 40" - off to measure it today - but im losing weight so maybe it will fit ok Very Happy
Aknita

I made the 44" for me and it was a perfect fit. I am a generous size 14.

I'll measure it again to make sure... I've not been feeling well this week and have the dreaded fluey cold that everyone seems to have and my head is feeling very fuzzy!

I've been looking through pattern books this morning (we're not in Uni this morning thank goodness, the way I feel today!) and may start something else in the yarn when the cooler months come round again.
Rosie

Well i measured mine & i make the back 19" when it should be 20" but i figured i can prob block it to 20".

What do u guys think ???
pictish

I think you probably can Rosie - you could always try blocking it before you go any further Cool
melody yarns

Well I measured mine again yesterday and it measures a scant 36" across the back piece and the tension is spot on for the yarn at 18sts to 10cm  Confused

I don't know whether to frog it and start again knitting a 44" garment or whether to abandon it altogether and knit summink else. I'm moving towards knitting summink else at the mo  Sad

Debs, there are HUNDREDS of pages in the original KAL thread, ( a bit like War and Peace really Wink ) but I read every single post before starting mine.

CJ made a 44" so I initially started the 48" but it soon became apparent that that would be too big so a 44" was what I decided on in the end.

Oh no - Did it sort of say it came up small Joy?  Confused  I didn't read anything before I started - I trusted the pattern. Stooopid of me really  Confused

I've started a few in different yarns Debs and if you read through the thread you'll see I had a few problems with sizing. But that was cos I was using a different yarn to the pattern and hadn't made allowance for that Confused As Jo said hers turned out ok.
Auntie Noo

I've cast on today for the 36" back - knitted in Sirdar Donegal.... and no I didn't do a gauge!!!!!   Hopefully it'll be OK and if not I'm hoping I can wing it with the next size up on the front...... fingers crossed.  I do want mine fitted though - in fact  I'm even adding waist shaping to make sure!
melody yarns

Sorry, I'm a bit confused - do you mean our CPH knitalong thread or is there an officaial one?
pictish

Yes our CPH thread!!!
melody yarns

Doh!! this fluey thing has made me feel very fuzzled this week...  Sad
pictish

Just thinking Debs .... cn you remember you accidentally deleted the original CPH thread and the sizing info might have been in there Confused
melody yarns
