Cashmere socks?I'm sorry if this q. has been asked a million times before but I'm new here and I can't see anything obvious on an initial search.
I've recently started knitting socks and my s-i-l put in a request for cahsmere socks which she currently buys from M&S. I assume she loves them because of the softness. Any recommendations for cashmere sock yarns or do you think it would be as good to use BFL or merino?
Thanks

Posh Yarns do a lovely cashmere sock yarn called Sophia or a cashmere/merino blend called Lucia - or Laura which is new. They also do Emily which is VERY soft and snuggly and has angora in it. You can see them here

You can also get an alpaca sock yarn from chrissy of Bright dyes, which is really lovely and soft too. Or skeinqueen sells the similar yarns to posh yarns, her colours are great

I've knitted cashmere socks in Posh Yarns Sophia and some in Lucia. And I felted them both. the yarns are gorgeous but they're defiitely not washable even on a wool cycle. Luckily I can still wear mine and they're even cosier now they've been felted.

Is all cashmere handwash only? I know for a fact that she would not appreciate hand wash only socks!

I've not come across machine washable pure cashmere yarn yet Tesco are doing machine wash cashmere jumpers and that is FIRST time I've ever seen that - it's a very delicate luxury yarn - it sometimes felts if you're not careful handwashing it

Just thinking. What about something machine washable with a bit of cashmere in it? Like Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino?

Hmm. The cashmerino sounds the way to go. I'm off to take a look...
