Cascade220

I am so in love with this yarn, I feel like I have missed out on something.

I've not used any yet just unwinding it from hanks and it so soft and cuddly.

I thought with it being ideal for felting that it may be corser if thats word, I really didn't think I would be that impressed with it as I wasn't keen on the sassy stripes sock yarn that I brought, but this is a whole different league. Can definatly see me using this to make soakers and things as well.

Cascade 220 is a GREAT yarn for felting! I love this yarn too. I wish more stores would carry it but the hank format has some drawbacks (at least here in the states). Some people stay away from it because they have neither the patience to ball it by hand nor do they have a ball winder.

But they are certainly missing out.

I know you'll be pleased!

And it felts so beautifully too and there are so many lovely colours and shades, and it's reasonably priced and so on and so on.................. Smile

The colour range seems fantastic too!

The colours are lovely, have been looking at them tonight. I'm thinking about getting some to do my WLD pattern in as it really looks awful in DK, just wondering if it's worth the money if I end up felting it.

I assume it is easy to felt, but how easy? I know some yarns like noro will felt in a heart beat!

Jon I agree people are missing out because its in hanks, I love getting wool like this and I don't own a winder and have no intentions of getting one either. I think it's a fun part of knitting now, does that make me a little stange?

I think they do a washable version of this yarn?

Not sure where/if available in the UK????

Cathie I found Noro very difficult to felt in comparison. 3 washes at 60 degrees or one at 90 degrees. Cascade felts at 60 degrees one wash in my machine and there is very little stitch definition left, whereas the Noro will still look knitted afterwards. Smile

Cathie, I am a wassack...thought you were worried about it felting!!!! As opposed to not felting
Cathie

Bit of both really, I need it to felt for my bagalong, but would prefer not to do it if I decide to make a jumper out of it, would be gut wrenching if I spent hours working on it

Maybe I'm the wassack Wink and that's what she is worried about?

Cathie do you WANT it to felt? Smile
