Blocking question re Sirdar Peru Naturals

I think some people here have used this yarn?   Confused  I wonder if anyone can advise me about blocking please?

It says on the pattern I'm using to make up the garment first and then pin it out and put damp cloths over it.  But the pieces are quite fluffy/sheddy and I wondered if it might help with that if I washed it (handwash, cool water), quick spin in the machine, and then pin it out to block and dry  Confused  But then why would it suggest the damp cloth approach rather than a wet blocking?  Has anyone here successful washed a garment made out of this yarn?

So, what to do?  Any thoughts or advice or suggestions very welcome.

TIA.

All the Sirdar patterns I've seen so far have these instructions with regard to the damp cloths  Smile Seems to be their standard approach no matter what the yarn. I'd say as long as the wool is marked handwash then washing and blocking the pieces even before making them up would be fine. I did this with my CPH which was in 100% wool and it helped a lot.

ah right!   I hadn't realised the damp cloths is a standard Sirdar thing (guess I haven't made that many Sirdar patterns yet  Embarassed )  That's really useful to know, thanks ever so much Dreamcatcher!

Cathy, what I often do is pin out and then spritz with water using one of those thingiewatsits you buy in the florist for misting your aspidistras with.

That't what I did with mine, but as I haven't worn it yet Embarassed I don't know how well it washes.

I always do mine with a steam iron - held just above the pieces - then I hang them over the back of the sofa to dry out a bit before I sew up Very Happy

Mine is not at the blocking stage either so can't help but am interested in how you do yours Wink I normally steam press everything but because this has acrylic in it you need to be careful.

Yeah, I do try to steam press if I can get away with it, but definitely not a goer with Peru  Rolling Eyes

I like the spritzing idea though, and I do actually have a spritzer thing (although I don't as yet possess an aspidistra  Laughing )  Joy, did you do all your sewing up before you pinned and spritzed?  Or did you P&S the bits and then do the sewing?

Thanks for all the help!  Much appreciated  Very Happy

No spidistra - I'm shocked Shocked Laughing

Pinned and spritzed prior to sewing, it worked very well with this yarn.

I know  Embarassed I've been looking for ages but just haven't found the right one.  Sigh.  Wink  Laughing

Righto, P&S before sewing is what I'm going to do - thanks ever so much!  Very Happy
