yup I can see why. Isn't tha beautiful.

Any body with experience of blocking shawls, can you tell me do you have to use blocking wires?
Glynis

Oh my goodness, that is BEAUTIFUL!!!

I've been thinking about blocking wires (not that I've made anything big enough to justify buying any you understand) because they do make such a lovely job of it.

I use pins and non-stretchy thread, so no, you don't have to use blocking wires.
chrissy

I just use pins which can mean loads of them but I find it gives me the exact shape I want, especially when doing a scalloped edging

That is beautiful...love it! Smile

Ooh very nice. I'm planning on getting some blocking wires sometime - so I can block shoalwater. Anyone know where's a good place to get them?
Glynis

Not knowing a great deal about them, I'd been looking here.

I've been watching this appear over the last couple of weeks, she's so talented I don't know where all those ideas come from. Whatever she touches turns to gold. Yet another pattern which will have to be downloaded!

I think Heirloom is the only place in the UK where you can get blocking wires now. If I continue lace knitting (and at the moment it's a distinct possibility) I may have to delve further, until then it will be my multicoloured pins and beach towels, so high tech Wink

The Bee shawl is stunning!

I dont use blocking wires, but am thinking of putting them on my Christmas list Smile I use Yarn Harlot's method of blocking http://www.yarnharlot.ca/blog/arc.../08/23/walk_around_the_block.html but it can be difficult to get the right shape sometimes.

GORGEOUS SHAWL. You don't have to use blockign wires but it makes the job so much easier and quicker. I got some courtesy of Button from KnitPicks recnetly and they're fab. I used them for my Mum's Victoria Shawl (blocking pics on my blog sometme in May). and I used them for my Ocean Waves Shawl too.

As a new to lace knitter and browsing around looking for ideas I noticed the bee shawl on a forum somewhere and thought it was beautiful. That is a lovely picture of it.

Are you going to knit it? It's stunning.
