August spinningThis is the last month of our Summer Spinning SAL. I'll do the prize raffle on September 1st, so you still have time to enter. Anyone who has posted even one picture of finished yarn will qualify for the raffle. There will be two prices from me and Anni has offered to give the third.
---
Organic merino pencil roving from the Yarn Yard. Color Delight. 159m, 81g. Spun on Lucrezia's lace flyer, 12:1. Navajo plied on jumbo flyer, 10:1. 16 wpi.
There is less technical information on my blog if someone is interested. I think this will be my yarn for August, Corriedale on the bobbin now is meant for bigger project (three different shades of red, each 100g, to make three ply.) and will not be finished in August.

lovely stuff Hanne.
My lace weight is finally finished, so I'm just waiting for it to dry before taking a photo.

Gorgeous Hanne. i'm struggling this month. Finally started some the other day. One of my 3 lots of Wensleydale from the Yarn Yard. Colour is gorgeous but I'm not sure abou the fibre. Not sure i like Wensleydale. Not spun it befor and finding it very difficult to draft it. Also get covered in 'fluff' when I'm spinning, much more than when spinning merino or bfl. Nor sure at al about this fibre. Not as soft as I expected either. I love the colour but not sure if I'll ever knit with the finished fibre, so not sure if I can be bthered to spin it all. Got two more lots, one was a club colourway and one brown/pink. Think they may stay in stash for a long time.
Wish I'd started my cashmere/silk instead now.
Any tips for spinning Wensleydale?

It's definitely more sticky Anni than bfl or merino - something to do with the long staple and the lanolin in it - it sort of 'clings' when you're drafting. When I first learnt I used it all the time and have some lovely fine stuff I made then but I tried recently (after a 3 year break) and couldn't get it at all The finished yarn is soft with a sheen but definitely not as soft as bfl or merino.

Here's a photo of my lace weight spunky eclectic BFL. It's lace weight and took an absolute age to spin.

More gorgeous handspun CJ. I don't think I'm going to get anything spun up this month. Keep looking at my Wensleydale in progress but don't really want to carry on with it. Maybe I should take it off and start something else. Also got so much deadline kniting to do that I feel guilty taking time off from that. Girls are away all next week though so may find some time then. Simon is off so depends on how busy we are going out and about. wish he was working for a few days so I oculd have some days all to myself. Awful aren't I?! But I love time to myself.

thanks Anni.
oh yes, do something else I think. I didn't get on with wensleydale for some reason. I'm spinning for my partner in the uk spinning swap on ravelry, so I can't post any piccies just yet, just in case. Not that I think she comes on here, but it would be just my luck for her to spot it.

My last lot of spinning for August is now done, just dry in time. It's more of the lovely CorriePaca from spunky eclectic in macaw colourway. It turned out about 16-18wpi, so I might make some socks as I have 336m of it.

I feel a bit of a fraud really, since it was made under the guidance of a tutor, but here's mine

more gorgeous spinning. I failed completely in August. Still got the Wensleydale on the wheel but not felt like spinning it. I may take it off and get started on the cashmere/silk I've got instead.
