I'm making a baby blankie already - will that do??
murdo
yep. I think if we just all support one another with the dreaded "first" project it will be fine what we do...keep it here Debs or what???
melody yarns
you can put it on the KAL section if you like... or keep it here... or .....anywhere really....
murdo
That's what we need...incisiveness..or do we??...need to consider the options......
melody yarns
Oh b*gger off you
chrissy
right well it took a good while but once I realised that is was made in trebles and not doubles I have the actual hat made, I have not done the flower and don't know what to do as it states to felt the flower but I don't want a felted flower on it so don't quite know what to do.
might do a search for flower patterns and do one of those instead
Chrissy
murdo
Youve finished it!!! I am not worthy
chrissy
it took just under 2 hours and was great to do, I don't know if american crochet is different to our but the pattern calls for doubles but there is no way it is doubles, so I got very confused, but trebles work a treat and it is a great fit, I did forget to go down a needle size for rounds 12 so just did it on round 13
I just as I said need to sort out a flower
Chrissy
murdo
Chrissy...think their trebles are doubles or other way around Didnt realise it was a USA pattern
melody yarns
I think their doubles are our trebles cos the baby blankie I started which said 'easy' wasn't as mine looked nothing like the picture did. But they had trebles and I had doubles. I think. Maybe.

look at these conversions

those links are very useful, the pattern pages are quite good as they had a very clear diagram which helped a great deal. as soon as my camera battery is charged I will take a picture of it

Ooooh I like those, they look as thought they would also make wonderful teacosies, and that's just what I need!
How easy is it crochet with two strands of sock yarn, I don't have any DK?
n
murdo
Think you would be fine N...what colour teacosy are you wanting?
jacquie
Wouldn't a crochet KAL actually be a CAL?
*runs and hides before someone hits me over the head with a rolled up crochet pattern*

What are you all like
Watch out girls - me dear friend Yvonne has made it her mission in life to teach me to crochet - or as she put it "what the bl***y h*ll are you doing paying £40 to go on a course for when I could teach you" - or words to that effect!!!!!" Anyway tomorrow night is the big night so let's wait and see.
KnittingLadybird
ooooh go for it Joy...when you get to grips with it, it's quite satisfying....like most things it just clicks into place when you just feel like giving up....so my advice is don't....keep going back to it.
and just think of all those fancy edgings you will be able to do....I hate knitting borders and bands and the hook comes in very handy then
murdo
Getting there...now on round 5 of the hat patten (linked above). I'm fine when I remember to use USA stitch!! Crikey, it grows quick...doing it in Colinette Giotto. Doing one each for the Pitates.

OK...need help folks. Doing great until round 4. In round 3 of hat (link at start of thread) tells me I should finish with 18 chain 1 spaces...yes!!!!
round 4 I then do...
..slip stitch in first chain and chain 4. Then crochet DC (USA) into same space and follow with a chain 1.
..in next chain space (dc and chain 1) twice
..dc in next chain space and then chain 1) Twice
*work (dc chain 1 twice) in next chain space
..repeat * to around 4 times more.
...join round with slip stitch into fourth chain
...this should give 24 chain spaces...I get nearer 30.
What am I doing wrong? Frogged 3 times and followed exactly but still get too many "holes"
chrissy
you are doing 2 trebles plus 1 chain into 1 space, then you are doing 1 treble plus 1 chain into the next space, if you look at the diagram rather than reading it becomes clearer, just remember that it is always treble plus 1 chain
does that help
murdo
I wondered if it was that but I didn't read the pattern (written not chart as saying that) Did I read the pattern wrong?? Will redo properly...thanks Chrissy, been getting VERY frustrated
chrissy
I don't know I found the writted instructions very difficult but flew along when I followed the chart
I will take a pic later or should I say I will attempt to get Sam to take apic later

I love those Daleks, but I had to say that I also nearly PMSL thinking about them as toilet roll holders. I keep my toilet rolls in a big basket in the bathroom, so there would be a big basket of Daleks greeting visitors. And as for exfoliate....exfoliate... LOL
