Anyone else struck by The Basic Black Cardigan??

I absolutely love this cardigan. It's by the designer of Ivy, which I also loved. It is knitted in a DK yarn.

I have to wait until I finish my Rib and Cable before being 'allowed' to cast on for this but then I would love to have a go. Anyone else like it enough to try it out with me?
Binty

I really like that - maybe one day Very Happy
KnittingLadybird

I like the shape of this but I don't think i'd knit it in black...I maybe in on this cos I need something for me Wink
melody yarns

Oooh definitely Gilraen!!

I absolutely heart classic styles and this is no exception. Good to see that it's in a basic stocking stitch gauge as well so no fiddling required and I can knit from stashorama! Which is always a good thing obviously Wink I'm thinking DB Merino already....

Count me in!!
terri

Count me in too!!! I have plenty of dk in stash to choose from, I'm thinking maybe fuscia ryc cashmerino dk for it???? I do have some alpaca silk, but think its too warm for this design Confused
gilraen

I am getting excited now. This is a lovely Magknits. Very Happy

I'm not a 'black' girl either and was thinking of subbing a different colour, or 2, it would be perfect for work in several colours. Smile
loobyj

Yes, I really like that - I could be tempted Gilraen..... but I've got to finish all my Thingmas knitting Confused Make a nice new year project Very Happy

Blossom

Kewl!! Very Happy

I like this too, but no DK in stash. I was thinking of the james C Brett kool cotton for it.
pictish

Yes DEFINITELY!!! Have just queued it today on Rav and think mine might be a bright pink one in J C Brett Merino or a Redcurrant one in Sublime EFM (both in stash) Cool I am definitely going to make at least one.

I'm also thinking of doing the Fibonacci jacket too very soon. I'm rarely so inspired to cast on immediately - I don't know what's come over me Rolling Eyes Laughing
gilraen

Funny so was I!! Smile I have 10 balls of it from Debs, would it do? Smile
pictish

If you mean the KK gilraen I think that would be exactly the right guage Cool
Fi

Love it, not sure what colour yet though.

Might have to wait till xmas hols cos its mad here.

Brilliant!! Thank you Stash Queen!! Smile
slowasasnail

I like this too but will have to wait until I have finished my Thingmas knitting. Also don't have any DK in my stash.
Anna

The blacker the better for me Twisted Evil I wear so much that one of my students is convinced I'm a "secret Goth" at home Laughing I'm not, but I didn't dare tell him I'd just been to the Goth festival at Whitby for a look-see at all the gorgeous costumes

I digress. I do like this design, though I'd have to do full length sleeves, and I do have lots of DK in my stash, though oddly enough no spare black Shocked

Perhaps I'll get some pennies from Father Christmas that I can spend on black stash Wink
melody yarns

Ooh crumbs... does it have to be black?? Well obviously not... but.... Laughing

Hmmm. Purple DB merino DK wot I got from Pictish's shoebox once, some black James Brett Merino wot I frogged cos there was too much rib, or some sumptuous King Cole merino DK in a glorious larkspur colour, or summink else......

Decisions, decisions.... Laughing
cazzie

I'm tempted - have to be from stash - have some Kool Kotton maybe
pictish

The black James Brett would be VERY smart for teaching Debs Cool but the DB Merino would also be lovely Wink

I will be selling some green DB Merino from the shoebox later this week as well if anyone else needs some Laughing Laughing

Yeah right Laughing Laughing Laughing

I like this one but do like it in black. I've got a lovely come of Elsbeth Lavold Silky Wool in black which might be a winner.....
melody yarns

OOh I've got some Elsbeth Lavold stuff hidden away somewhere too Blue Wink might have to unearth it.

Have you got Silky Wool or Silky Tweed?
pictish

Mine isn't hence the lock down on yarn purchasing & I'm having to knit from my stash. But that isn't a problem as it's a rather nice stash if I do say so myself Very Happy However I did object when DH tried to introduce a no swapping rule as I said that if that were the case I'd just go out & buy whatever I wanted Laughing Laughing

Kidding aside it's VERY useful having it all up to view. Viewing the yardage, gauge etc & it's made project planning much easier.
KnittingLadybird

oh ...they will be happy after a naked yarn dive....i'm sure Wink

Sorry folks I really don't know what has gotten into me tonight...and yes...I could make a joke out of that too Wink
Fi

Must be all that cider Linz.
KnittingLadybird

Binty

Has anyone started this?
Jo028

Not yet, can't decide which colour Very Happy
melody yarns

I might well start this after my current WIPs are completed ready for TE2!!
Wildpurl

I love this too, and I am planning to knit it in a dark purple Bergere de France Ideal which I haven't bought yet Laughing
When I've finished some more WIPs...
pictish

The Ideal looks nice Carola Cool Have you tried it??
Wildpurl

I've not tried it, but a lady on the Ivy KAL used it for her Ivy, and she said it was lovely to knit with. She used the colour I am thinking of and it looked soooo lovely
gilraen

Well I have done one front side and am now on the second side, here's what it looks like so far. Smile

The colour is moonstone (Rowan Wool cotton) and a Raveller let me pay to replace her own 4 balls of this colour and lot number so I would be able to finish it in my size! What a sweetheart! Smile
melody yarns

I like that  Very Happy

Which reminds me, I have some Wool cotton in a deep red colour  Wink
pictish

What a lovely unusual colour!!! And anther nice knitty thing to happen Cool
gilraen

I am very taken with Wool Cotton!! Deep Red sounds fabulous!! Smile
daisydap

anything that says basic and black to me sounds good. i really do like that cardi, its just the sort of thing i wear. they say a sub for it is knitpicks shine sport, i know i have that in cloud and a cream colour, unfortunately not black but thats ok. or i could use sirdar country style i suppose, cos i have that in black
Wildpurl

That's lovely Gilraen, it is looking really good. I love the colour and the texture
Anna

It's looking lovely, Gilraen. I have this pattern bookmarked to make at some point in the future...
