I have just finished Mudbound Carolinne - wasnt it good?
I havent read 52 books this year, I have read a lot though. My favourite one was The Road Home by Rose Tremain - absolutely bloomin brilliant - about an immigrant coming to London and all his trials and tribulations and experiences of being a foreign person in this country.
I also really enjoyed The Kite Runner.
I am now on the third book by Cathy Glass - the series about the kids in foster care. I started with Damaged, then read Cut, am now on Hidden.
I started World Without End by Ken Follet a while ago, but gave up on it - I found it a bit boring, but might give it another go sometime.

Well done and I am probably not far behind you ... I read Mudbound, very good, I also liked The Rich Mans Wedding Bureau set in India.
Our library is getting lots of new books and I am wipping off those shelves. I only live 2 minutes walk away, and it has saved me loads of money even buying at Asda rates.

2008 was the National Year of Reading... but you probably already knew that Carolinne!!
Well done, a fab achievement. I have to admit that I find reading very boring and find it difficult to find a book that really grabs my attention and commitment. Mr Melody, however, is an avid reader

Well done Carolinne. I'm probably about there too or possibly a little ahead - I've always got my head in a book, and have several on the go at one time. But, I've never kept track of how many I read in a year. Might do that this year in my diary, 'cos it sounds like a good idea.
And thanks for the recommendations in this thread too

I have no idea how many books I read last year, but I read every night before going to bed so probably over 40. I have read a few books this year that were later made into films, I would rather read the book instead of watching the film.
Most of the books I read are from the library, I should maybe keep a record next year.

I read about 4 and then I couldn't think of anything else I wanted to learn about - lethargy or maybe apathy took hold.
I think one of my new year's resolutions will be to use my time more wisely, and I will make time for another go at the dummies books - and more knitting.
